Crysencio Summerville’s fitness | The camera never lies

Graham Potter’s update at the Press conference on Thursday gave positive news for Jarrod Bowen who the Manager hopes will be ready for a return. Slightly less welcome was his update regarding Crysencio Summerville.

“Summerville is very doubtful and taking a bit longer than we anticipated,” Potter told the audience. Which, since his showing in the first half against Aston Villa where he was a revelation in the right wing back role, was very disappointing news.

Missing the pace and attacking flair which Summerville offers would be a big dent in Potter’s plans for taking the attack to Chelsea on Monday night. How bad was it  I wondered? Is Summerville facing a long spell on the sidelines?

The answer wasn’t long in coming. On the same day West Ham’s media outlet released ‘Inside Rush Green’ – Irons get set for Chelsea.‘ The video starts with a very athletic ‘keepie-uppie’ session from – Mohammed kudus and Crysencio Summerville- showcasing their fleet-footedness. Keep watching the whole video and you’ll see ‘Cry’ taking part in the full training, running, passing, tackling, turning, back heeling – admittedly I’m no expert but this was not the performance of a player protecting an injury.

Watch for yourself and judge for yourself: I’d wager Summerville is pretty near match fit and raring to go if not on Monday then any day after. Much better news than perhaps Graham Potter suggested in his press conference: With Jarrod Bowen ready to make a return and Konstantinos Mavropanos back from suspension it looks very much like West Ham are getting over the worst of their player injury crisis.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Well, seeing as it just been announced he’s suffered an injury setback, I think it’s safe to assume, he’s not fit now.

Good that he’s back training but having had a hamstring injury maybe a full on 90 minutes of competitive football might be a bit too early for him?

Agree with Tim, our season will not finish in Europe or relegation so no need to panic buy and good opportunity to test out young players to hopefully save some money in vastly overpriced transfer market. A good example is Duran at £71 million and £350,000 a week so only the Arabs are daft enough to pay it. Good business for Villa though!

Love that Potter is always thinking more long term. Don’t waste money in the transfer mkt, don’t rush players back from injury too soon, do give the academy players chances in the first team. There will be ups and downs on the way but i think there are now far more reasons to be positive about the future.

You completely overlooked Paqueta, who apparently hasn’t been fit to train all week.

    Hope you’re right Martin
