Suddenly David Moyes’ offer of £20 million doesn’t look so ‘derisory’ now! A year has passed since the Hammers’ former gaffer apparently tried to buy defender and former England Captain Harry Maguire for the sum of £20 million. According to former West Ham Scout Mick Brown the offer was considered insulting, derisory at the time.
However according to the Daily Star the news for Manchester United has got worse; In an article this weekend entitled “Erik ten Hag set to sell Harry Maguire at slashed price as Man Utd face huge transfer loss” the publication says the sale price now starts far lower: £10 million is the price set for the former England defender’s signature.
“That price, a huge reduction on the £30m he would have cost barely a year ago, underlines that United consider the England defender dispensable. Maguire, 31, has constantly struggled to retain a regular place under Erik ten Hag during the past couple of seasons.”
I suggest it also comes with a sharp dose of reality. Quite how any personal negotiations with the player would work out is another story – he is apparently still on mammoth wages that would be out of the question at West Ham United.
So whilst there ‘could’ be a temptation to see the 31 year old as still having something to offer, at over £200k a week there are very few clubs that would be interested in taking him off Manchester United’s hands. Their very own Danny Ings.
Why would we sign Maguire when we have his next permanent replacement in The England Team Max Kilman?
Apparently Westham are still trying to complete their dinosaur collection and so after buying Fulkrug don’t be surprised if Maquire and Moyes turn up as part of the Prehistoric monster show .
He will join Andy Carroll.

To get a 31 year old Harry Magurie, for 10/15 million, on 200,000 a week wages, is not a temptation for me saveloy, more like a nightmare, who the hell dreams up these silly stories
