You know there is something seriously wrong when national media attention turns towards the people rather than the results. Finally it seems that the reality of life at West Ham United is sinking in to those in the ‘wider world’.

Labelled ‘the Premier League’s most dysfunctional football cub” today by the Daily Mail, the Hammers travel to north London for the game that could be pivotal not just to their season but their whole future.

After most outsiders and observers scratching their heads for months if not years whilst wondering what all the fan upset has been about, now the media who had seemingly been firmly on-side with the Sullivan-Brady leadership appear to have worked out the dreadful reality.

The dailymail.co.uk call it out in their article :

” Inside the chaos at rudderless ship’ West Ham”

“If Netflix wanted to do a series about the Premier League’s most dysfunctional club they should visit West Ham for a couple of weeks’ – one insider is reported as saying.”

It is as if the penny has finally dropped and newspapers like the Mail have worked out what all of the fan complaint and protest of the last months – years – has all been about. Behind the millions thrown at overpriced payers, there is no strategy, no plan, no leadership and no respect for the heritage, history or the fan base (once famously labelled “customers” by vice chair Brady).

“To put it simply,( says the Mail) they have had enough of David Sullivan and his lieutenant Karren Brady. They have had enough of duff managerial appointments and duff signings and they would appear to have a point. After David Moyes came Julen Lopetegui. A flop. Then came Graham Potter. Another flop. Now it is Nuno Espirito Santo.

Should he go the same way – and the signs are not good – it will, in all likelihood, be three strikes and out. Lincoln city, rather than Liverpool, could be visiting the 60,000 capacity London stadium next season. Let that sink in”

Nuno is under huge pressure – don’t think he signed up for all of this

None of which helps the team or Nuno in their preparation for the ‘must win’ north London visit this afternoon. But it serves as due notice to the supporters that there protest has brought the spotlight on to Sullivan and his ownership which, for many reasons, will most likely soon see ‘time’ called on the chairman’s tenure.

As the club go through their agonies on the pitch, it seems not ‘if’ but ‘when’ change will come in the board room.

What seems clear is with the focus of national media now squarely on the crisis, whether it is a clean break or a messy exit, it’ll  be neither quiet nor dignified. Poor Nuno, I’m not sure he signed up for this.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Things will never change while S-B are running the club im 69 now and been a season ticket holder since i was 15 I’ve watched many games home and away but to see what the deadly duo are doing to our club is appalling the pair are nuttyier than a squirrels fart they couldn’t run a bath ive seen managers come and go chairman’s come and go but since i went to my first game in 1963 ive never seen such a vad way the club is being run they haven’t a clue I would take us going down if S-B take a run and jump I can’t see us getting any better while they are in charge

You know you are up to your neck in sh@t when you are relying on the Daily Fail for help

At the very least, Sullivan & Brady are now seeing their mismanagement published in the mainstream media and the embarrassment even they must feel at the ridicule this will bring. Small consolation to us fans but may make them uneasy enough to ‘do the right thing’.
I’m not fussed whether they are shareholders or not at this precise moment, I just want them removed from the decision making process.
Let’s get professionals into the key positions, get a strategy in place which is published, with tactics/actions also published as to how they aim to achieve the strategy.

In situations like this the useless and deeply unpopular owners usually end up going. But it often takes a very long time. By the time Sullivan goes West Ham could be languishing in the lower reaches of the Championship, or worse.

After we lose today and probably heavily, Nuno must go and an interim brought in. I don’t believe Jémez would be a good choice as his managerial record is pretty poor mainly at tier 2 & 3 Spanish clubs and a stint in Iran. He had one good season at Rayo Vallecano, it that was nearly 14 years ago. Staying is going to be very difficult, but it’s non-existent with Nuno at the helm.

I just hope that all the people who said “be careful for what you wish for” read the article, especially Alan shearer because they didn’t see what the fan s saw

  • Jeeps says:

Can’t agree with wording in article last sentence ‘poor Nuno’.
He has brought this situation on himself with his idiotic schemes.
Left Forest due to management disagreements over player transfers.
He’s now crying out loud for reinforcements when half club has been sold or loaned out.
Don’t have to be a manager to see what’s needed just ask fans.
Does Sullivan, Brady and Nuno honestly think they know better than whu following.
If yes then they are very disillusional.
Other clubs are not restricted to buying players aged 30+, why are whu?
Should have been sorted prior to transfer season starting.

Not news to any sensible West Ham supporter, and yes WH voice we are stuck with the Sullivan’s whilst the club can be milked, we all know that when we left Upton park it was going to be a downward spiral. Having supported this club for 60 years and gone to both grounds even I can see we no longer have home ground advantage, just watched a re- run of some seventies football under lyle, proper club, proper football, total entertainment ( just my opinion) 🙏🏻

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

They are missing a fact with Nuno in that he has in part been responsible with his odd team selections and overly defensive substitutions, we had won two in a row when we played Bournemouth were 2 0 up and everything was going well, then he inexplicably took off the most in form player on the field in Wilson and we were very lucky not to lose the game.

We could and should be midtable by now if we hadn’t made stupid team selections, against the teams in and around us. If we lose today and there is as yet no evidence that we are good enough to beat the worst Spurs team in modern history, then sack Nuno maybe leave this Jemez guy in charge as a caretaker and see what he can do. Nuno prefers Mendes players not on form but because they are his agents picks and that is another level of dysfunction that makes us as the mail have correctly pointed out the most dysfunctional club in the main leagues of football.

Tottenham is NOT a “ must win” game ; rather , it is a “WILL lose” game ! Although, I am clinging to the forlorn hope that it won’t be ! Have we found any defenders, yet ?

  • Dave says:

I’ll be clear, my comment was aimed at the Daily Mail article….

  • Dave says:

Another article written by AI, with spelling mistakes and full of cliches….

Adds nothing to the debate. Poor.

  • Martin B says:

I agree , his son will be next in line …. we are in for many more years of misery yet.
I said to my son many years ago , I will never see west ham lift a trophy , clearly I was wrong but I did not think for one .minute I would be alive to see another relegation and if we do go down I dont think ill be here to see us get back up either ….sad time to be a hammers supporter

  • West Ham Voice says:

No matter how low west ham sinks as a club, the thought that Sullivan will sell up is something that the fans are unlikely to see any time soon

Neither protests or relegation will make Sullivan sell.

He’ll more than likely pass his stake to his son..

We’re stuck with Sullivans for longer than we all think

    • Neil Down Under says:

The Gold children and Jack Sullivan will be watching with some concern the current events (as much as multi-millionaires have “concerns”).
The value of their inheritance is about to nose dive.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they take the money and run.
There aren’t too many kids of successful business people that have the same drive as their parents. They’ve never needed to, hence why Vanessa Young (nee Gold) is probably looking to sell her shares.
Football, I’d dare say, is more hassle than any money it generates.
Especially how Sully spends like a drunken sailor.
