Danjuma bid: The facts

By Dave Langton

West Ham are not currently progressing in talks to sign Arnaut Danjuma, with boss David Moyes not convinced by the player.

There have been reports overnight claiming that the Hammers are closing in on a deal to sign the Villarreal ace, for a fee in excess of £30m.

But a top source has told us quite simply this morning: “It’s not true.”

Moyes did take a close look at Danjuma, with scouts having watched him, but there is a concern over his ability to track back, and there is also a feeling that he can go missing in games.

While he is currently under contract with Villarreal, Danjuma has played in England before with Bournemouth, and he hardly set the world alight.

During his time with the Cherries, he made 14 Premier League appearances and did not score a goal or provide an assist.

The Hammers have so far signed Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola permanently this summer and Moyes would like to sign reinforcements to his forward line if the right player can be found.

  1. Sounds about right just wait like moyes does and then someone comes I and takes him dithering dave probably the worst person to do transfers in west hams history. Even then vlasic and kral good examples of waiting too long then getting crap in.

  2. Glad to hear it. The Watford duo of Dennis and Sarr are good options and have proved dangerous in the Prem. Cornet can be outstanding going forward, so there are proven options – one of those plus Broja would be good business for me. We definitely need at least 2 signings up front in my opinion.

  3. He had a very good season last year, 19 goals in all competitions with 6 in 10 in the champions league. Definitely an upgrade on what we currently have wide left

  4. Remove Moyes from all transfer dealings before it is too late……his continuous pursuit of the mercenary Lingard is getting tedious to say the least & it will surely cost us in other transfer dealings if we’re not carefull

  5. This sucks. I’d have Danjuma over Lingard all day long. When is Dave gonna wake up and realise his little pet Jesse does not want to play for us. Seriously it’s this kind of dithering and obsession over one target that cost us over the last few windows. Spuds getting loads of really good business done early, fair enough they can offer CL but I can see this being another, oh honestly we put in bids for De Bruyne Salah and Messi 2 minutes before the window closed but hey we tried. Our targets should have been identified weeks and weeks ago and half of them now wearing our colours it’s embarrassing.

  6. Here we go again ,surely they should know by now who they want to sign that’s what they got Newman for, cause what’s the use of having him if dithering Dave is going to say no to any signings ,

  7. Are Coufal, Soiucek, Dawson, Zouma, Bowen, Areola all crap as well? Vlasic hasn’t really featured and the on loan, Kral even less so. Both are experienced internationals for Croatia and the Czech Republic – so they’re not crap, as you put it Claret Whine! Not all players settle in from overseas, and not that many hit the ground running. Some don’t suit the Premier League – Sebastien Haller, springs to mind.

  8. Can you guys tell me how you get to listen to all of David Moyes’s conversations please? You all seem to know everything and feel confident enough in your knowledge to judge what’s ACTUALLY going on, so I want in… How exactly do you transform into a ‘fly on the wall’ then back again so you can bore us all with your constant criticism?

  9. Every signing is a gamble. Every person in football can only go on what they see, know and feel about a player, however ‘in the know’ they claim. Stop being whining little judges and let’s wait and see what happens. I trust in Dave to bring in those he feels can do a job for him.

  10. Why are pursing one Player at a time ? Surely they have more than one capable person to do a deal. I have been saying for weeks now.

Make David Moyes a Coach and stop his interference in the market and get the buys done.

I have noticed the same words as the Winter transfer window creeping in. “If the right Player can be found”. Which is David Moyes for the Player I want or you can forget it, we will do without. Just like the last two windows. NOT ACCEPTABLE ANYMORE. This is a funny Season given the World Cup and the fixture list, you will need a big Squad as there are likely to be a lot of injuries. If Klopp and Guardiola are worried, surely we must be..

  11. It’s moyes whose job is on the line if a big money Danjuma just turned out to be the same guy who was no great shakes at Bournemouth and who in a lesser foreign league last year managed 12 goals in open play not including penalties. Can’t stand his stupid snake hand goal celebration by the way. If he does end up with us then Antonio is going to have to teach him some different moves. As for Lingard he’s proven in the premier league and international level and he’s a free transfer. He’s a player Moyes trusts. No brainier for me.
