West Ham Co_Chairman David Gold has taken to social media to share his frustration at the Hammers growing injury list.
Gold told his twitter followers: “This was our injury list before yesterday’s game it does not include Declan Rice or Cheikhou Kouyate, both could be back for the Palace game. This is not meant to be an excuse for our poor performance but simply a fact. 13 first team players unavailable for yesterday’s game. dg”
Obiang suffered a knee ligament tear and looks to be out for six weeks. Mark Noble, Declan Rice, Cheik Kouyate, Jose Fonte and Michail Antonio were all out injured yesterday but all have a chance to be fit for West Ham’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.
Marko Arnautovic should return in February while Manuel Lanzini will not return until March and Andy Carroll is earmarked for an April return if at all.
“Andy Carroll back in April”. Which year? The number of injuries is ridiculous and it has been a perpetual problem. Surely this needs dealing with? A fit squad would keep us in mid table at least. But if we don’t supplement the squad in the next 4 days we risk losing our PL place. And then all of our best players. How does that make business sense?
Well then Mr Gold you and the board have 4 days left ? “Show us the money ” ??????
perhaps if we had the generally accepted correct number of players in the squad in the first place the injury list would not be as serious. The lac of investment by the Board has now caught up with us.
Maybe it should read WHU fans bemoan Gold & Sullivan for their lack of investment. So sick and tired of their excuses, it’s so hard to sign players. Maybe just maybe stay out of the Managers affairs, give him a budget that is required to go forth and let Moyes do what is required, similar to what most other clubs do. Never have I seen so many newspaper articles about the owners muddling into the Managers, managing affairs.
West Ham’s got sports scientists, masseurs dieticians etc. and we’ve got untold soft tissue injuries. Reid’s injured every few games. Antonio could just be unlucky but his injuries have seemed to increased after signing his new lucrative contract. His body language has been awful. And then there’s the magnificent Carroll who’s probably gone on holiday still drawing £90k per week.
