David Gold is grounded

dgplaneWest Ham joint chairman has been grounded and will not be able to make today’s lunchtime match.

The 80 year was turned away from Stansted airport when he tried to board a plane to Liverpool because of fog.

Gold tweeted “So disappointed. I am on my way home from Stansted airport. Fog. Will watch the match on TV, not the same. Good luck to West Ham fans. dg”

Gold has had a pilot licence for 35 years and a helicopter license for at least six years but often prefers to hire private  jets now leaving the flying to someone else.

He used to own a corporate air service Gold Air International which he sold it in 2006 for £4.4m

  1. Amazing . That makes me a little jealous . I would love to learn how to fly . But obviously time and money are definitely against me . Anyway you must admire the man for it .
