Kevin Nolan is on the verge of being appointed as the new Northampton Town manager.
The Cobblers parted ways with John Brady last week after a 2-0 defeat to Birmingham City, leaving fans anxious about who would take the reins. Now, it appears the search is over, with former Irons favourite Nolan ready to step into the hot seat.
This marks a significant opportunity for Nolan, who has carried himself well since departing his role at West Ham when David Moyesā contract wasnāt renewed. There certainly would have been too many who would have predicted that Nolan would beat his old gaffer back into management but that’s precisely what has happened.
A proud servant of West Ham both as captain and coach, Nolan has consistently spoken warmly about his time at Upton Park and later at the London Stadium, where he had two stints as part of Moyesā backroom team.
The former Leyton Orient and Notts County manager faces a fresh challenge, battling to steer Northampton Town clear of League One relegation. Nolan had been linked with the Bristol Rovers job, but itās now clear heās headed to their league rivals.
Best of luck to Nolan in his new roleāperhaps weāll see him back at West Ham one day for a remarkable fourth spell!
Great news. Kevin Nolan is a top man. I am sure he will enjoy getting his hands dirty with all aspects of club management. Equally sure that he will be a success.
Northampton were in the old First Division last century. Not likely to achieve those lofty heights these days but staying profitable and providing supporters with something to smile about will be a job well done.
If he does this well, Kevin will move on up as he pleases. He already has playing, coaching and leadership under his belt at the highest level.
Northampton players can count themselves lucky to have Kevin Nolan as their boss.
Northampton now becomes a great location to send our academy lads. Sure his old pal Noble would help him out.
We all know Nolan was a fantastic man manager, as a Captain. Noble would have learnt a lot from as well as Rice. Iām sure he would be a good manager. However taking on a team 2 points above relegation in league one means heās going to have a real struggle. Years ago someone like Nolan would have got a shot as manager of a premier league team. These days itās hard for an English manager to make it to the top in their own country. I wish him well though. Hope to see him back at West Ham one day though I know itās probably unlikely now.
Bill is right should have stayed would stopped all the crap going on behind the scenes.
Good luck Kevin
Club should have insisted he was kept on he knows this club inside out
