David Moyes is creeping up on West Ham with his new club, Everton.

Moyesie celebrated his 700th Premier League game as a manager with an away win against Brighton, which moves the Toffees to only three points behind the Hammers.

Everton were in full Moyesball mode as they beat stuttering Brighton 1-0 with only one shot on target, making it back-to-back wins for the Scotsman. The encounter finished with a brawl for good measure, but it leaves the former Hammers gaffer with a big chance to leapfrog West Ham sooner rather than laterā€”if we fail to win tomorrowā€™s clash against Aston Villa.

Quite frankly, the prospect of Richard Keys and Paul Merson smugly telling Hammers fans that we really shouldnā€™t have wished for change is giving me cold sweats.

That aside, Iā€™m pleased for Moyesie and for Everton. But on a day when they were linked with hijacking West Hamā€™s bid for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey, Iā€™ve started looking nervously over my shoulder.

The victory puts the Blues seven points above 18th-placed Ipswich, who were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool at Anfield. All round, a good day for Merseysideā€”but a win tomorrow against Villa will hopefully restore balance to the force

Moyes has taken over a team that actually were in a very good position when you look at their recent form before he was given the job. He has beaten a crap Tottenham team and got a decent result against Brighton. He has a good backbone of a team but it’s nothing to do with him. Much as I dislike Liverpool when they get to play their outstanding game against Everton I hope Liverpool thrash them.

I couldnā€™t give a monkeys what Moyes, Keys or Merson do or say, if Everton continue to play like that they will be as bad or worse than we were under Moyes, he had similar wins with us, almost every win in the PL in the last 2.5 years we were the worst team, dominated as Everton were yesterday that is not a formula for progression it may work for staying in the league and sooner or later in the modern game it catches up with you.

    Who cares! Move on Gonzo.

Judging by the many thousands of readers who chose to view the article, ‘quite a few’ care.

Think on this. Moyes has our transfer target list. Hes already working on hijacking Brian Brobbey from us. Soon he will have a state of the art brand new football stadium next to the water to tempt them in with. Who else could he steal from our transfer target list.

Heā€™s only been in charge three games and heā€™s already got Everton seven points clear of the relegation places. I wonder if before long weā€™re all looking up at Everton in the European spots and wondering what might have been.

I watched the previous Everton home game they scored three goals. I thought they were great to watch. Moyes even hit a tune out of Calvert Lewin. Thats what Moyes is good at. Getting a tune out of average players. He only came unstuck with us when he thought he had to play more attractive passing football to try and appease the fans. Thatā€™s when we started getting thumped. Before that when we played counterattacking football with the Arnoutavic years and Lingard season etc we were brilliant and I thought good to watch. I was quite happy to watch us defending with our backs to the wall with minimal possession when we were counterattacking and scoring loads up the other end. As someone who played as a defender I used to really enjoy those performances.

I wonder how moyes might have done if it wasn’t for all the director of football / sullivan nonsense messing up Transfers and squandering money.

I guess we will find out if Everton allow Moyes to pick players.

I don’t buy all the C&H propaganda about who signed who but recruitment has been a mess for years.

  • Moyes Mum says:

Who doesnā€™t miss a Moyes s###house win away from home with low block 30% possession against a better team then bam with the swift counter attacks and home with all three points and up the table we go, thanks very much goodnight.

  • Slater says:

Moyes is doing for them what he in the end was doing for us. Stinking the place out and grabbing results after surviving the match. It will not be long before the results occur like they did for us. The luck will run out.

  • Morty says:

I think Everton had a fair chance of avoiding the drop with Dyche, but definitely will stay up now Moyes is there. Iā€™m pleased for the man and wish him well against everyone but us.

  • Chris David says:

Good for Moyes! That was a hard fought win for Everton. Iā€™m glad heā€™s gone, but Iā€™ll always be grateful for his work with us.

  • Patrick Ronan says:

Must agree with Merson on this one. Moyes wins us our first European trophy in donkeys years and gets the boot because he doesnā€™t play the West Ham way. Iā€™ve been a West Han fan for more than 60 years and apart from the first ten of those, no WH team has played consistently attacking football and won anything. Moyes taught us how to defend. He also had a team that consistently scored goals. Good for him.
But now weā€™ve got Graham Potter who I think is the right fit too, so letā€™s stick together and back him so that David doesnā€™t get the last laugh
I think weā€™ll stay up but only because there seem to be some really poor teams in the PL this season.

    • Morty says:

He didnā€™t get the boot, he refused to sign a new contract which gave Steidten responsibility for transfers. In hindsight he was probably right

    • Hammeroo says:

We are one of those poor teams, I’m sorry to say! And, with Everton starting to move away from the bottom few and possibly above us soon, we could be looking like relegation candidates within the next few weeks. I hope our main man Sullivan has looked deep into his “Football Club Ownership For Dummies” book and can save us with some masterful transfer window loans or purchases!

  • John Ayris says:

The problem wasn’t outing Moyes, it was appointing Lopetegui. The mother of all deranged decisions.

The decisions are so truly awful that there’s never any hope of there not being self inflicted damage.
