David Moyes on Arsenal defeat

|

A disappointed David Moyes told reporters post-match that West Ham didn’t deserve to lose but admitted today’s mistakes were his players just didn’t take their chances. He said the West Ham players did really well on the whole but just couldn’t convert chance after chance. He added the Hammers didn’t start the second half too well but then got back into it in his opinion.

Asked about the mood of the West Ham dressing room following the narrow defeat Moyes said: “I told them they played really well. We did against Liverpool and Southampton but it’s only three points from three games. I’d rather play not so well and win the game but you couldn’t fault the players.”

Talking about Michail Antonio after the game against the North London rivals the manager said: “He gives us so much and offers us so much. He has improved, his fitness levels are up, his game is improving. The big games and moments, you have to take them. Just like the defenders don’t lose concentration.”

The Hammers now face Wolverhampton Wanderers next Sunday at the London Stadium.  They who failed to score against Brighton today which will give the Hammers hope of a result against the Wolves.

WE had six chances to score yesterday and we got nothing, zilch.
.It doesn’t matter if we played better than arsenal, if you don’t put your chances away you are going to get punished and that’s what happened.

I was watching as a guest of my Stepson in the Club section at the game and had a good view of proceedings .Thought we played well as a team, with 6 shots on target to their 2 we shouldn’t have lost that one . But my point is we conceded just as Soucek was ready to come on for Noble, we often concede when the sub is waiting to come on . Is it a concentration issue ?
Still thought we deserved at least a point.

And they are in Greece on Thursday. They are better than us, but we will never have a better chance to get a one off win. If we don’t get at least a point I think we are sunk.
