David Moyes has told Sky Sports viewers there is a long way to go in the transfer window yet despite being five days away from the start of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.
He said, “We have improved in the goalkeeping area, it is good competition, most people saw well Areloa did last year for Fulham so I hope he will give us competition there.”
On signing a new striker after Seb Haller’s departuree the manager added “I want further competition and I hope we do by the end of the transfer window”
“We want competition and I am always looking at what there is, I hope by the end of the window we might have more additions but you can’t guarantee anything”
The Premier League season starts for West Ham on Sunday at St James Park with an almost fit squad available with only Arthur Masuauku and Angelo Ogbonna small doubts. However, it is a long season and together with Europa League group stages, Moyes has a small squad compared to Premier League rivals.
He knows he must add depth to his squad by the end of the month for injury cover if nothing else and could further dip into the loan market in the final week if he is unable to land his permanent transfer targets. The summer transfer window closes at 11 pm on 31st August so just 21 days left to go!
I’ve always backed David Moyes in this transfer window but when he says “ I hope by the end of the window we might have more additions but you can’t guarantee anything” i start having my doubts we will sign a striker.
We cannot go though another season with just a lone striker especially one who is injury prone.
