Remember November 2017? West Ham United were deep in the mire. Slaven Bilic had been fired and the club sat perilously inside the relegation zone. The move to London Stadium have caused huge unrest amongst the fan base with moaning and  scuffles breaking out between ‘old’ generation fans and ‘new’ ticket holders all of whom were frustrated at the poor view, the sitting /standing/ stewarding arrangements and the clubs terrible form.

Into this arena strode ‘The moyesiah’ – David Moyes, tasked with saving West Ham from the disaster of relegation. Six months later, he left, with a record of 31 games played, nine wins and ten draws amongst them.

West Ham finished safely, thanks to Moyes, nine points clear of the drop zone.

Well now it seem he is going to be asked to repeat the same miracle. For Southampton. Returning to the Premier League after a six month break following his departure from London Stadium at the end of last season.

According to London World The Scotosaurus is a frontrunner to take over at St Marys and try to keep the Saints in the Premier League. Compared with other managing options,:” he is without a club, Moyes does not have the stumbling block of a release clause and has plenty of experience in the Premier League”

And good luck to him, it is a marriage made in football heaven between the dour Scot and his defensive ‘survivalist’ football and a club desperate for points.

As long as he isn’t in situ before West Ham’s Boxing Day visit, we wish him and Southampton just enough success to finish 17th!

    WELL YOU GOT THAT WRONG

  • Roberto says:

It’s a nobrainer David moyes is the man, he was one of the top managers in the country not that many years ago there are a lot of clubs that would give their high teeth for him, he knows what it takes, grab him before it’s to late.

  • Brian Coombs says:

I Think everyone is entitled to there opinions, The thing is it’s only football after all.. the people that get angry about players managers should step back, David Moyes is a good manager you can’t always blame them these players are paid a huge amount of money there the ones that want sacking. If they don’t know there game or there positions they play in there is an an alternative play your game or go.
Some of you might say that’s rubbish it’s my opinion yes and I will stick to it. Now my last piece is David Moyes get back to what you know.Im sure you will be back at Westham with more gumption . Good Luck.

  • Stephen smiles says:

Moyes was a good manager compared with what we have now and we have Brighton at the weekend we might get a draw if Brighton don’t turn up.

  • Ian the sub says:

That’s great ! indirectly he will help W.H. ,to safety by taking Southampton DOWN!

    • Lino V. Clark says:

David Moyes brought West Ham Utd European Trophy after almost 60 years, besides kept the Hammers in the Premiership. They should build a Statute at the Entrance of London Stadiun!!!

  • Phil Turner says:

Who cares, why keep talking about moyesbore, thankfully we got rid of him.

  • D says:

I wish one of these clubs at the bottom would employ him and watch him fail. Then see what all those pundits say. The narrative needs to change and the dour Scott needs to realise he was lucky to manage a team like West Ham and not the other way round. Let’s face it the only success he has had in 30 years of management was with us.

    • Joel says:

Typical West Ham fan imagine claiming to be a big club that have NEVER won the league

    • Perry says:

The only time West Ham have won anything

      • Neville Jones says:

Yes i remember West ham winning the fa cup early sixties ! and 1981? as a second division club so they have won things

    • Alex Jones says:

West Ham fans no nothing about football Moyes saved them won things and got them a respectable position.
You get him fired be careful reap what you sow your just a wee club in London with delusions of granduer.

    • Kevin Neil says:

West Ham was yet another step backwards after leaving Everton.

    • t. bates says:

Do you not mean the only success we have had in over 40 years is with David Moyes?

  • Moyes OUT says:

There will be riots if Moyes comes back, real riots

    • Valerie Palmer says:

Why should he come back to WHU after the way the so called fans hounded him on the hammers Facebook pages.
And yes I’m a hammers fan of 60 years plus, I like David Moyes and what he did for WHU, now we have a clueless manager and will probably be fighting relegation again.

  • zahama says:

If Southampton appoint Juric or one of the other candidates then what was the point of this article – the headline implies that appointing Moyes is already a done deal

Moyes plays poor and defensive football and he had two bad transfer years but overall seems like a decent man – I really don’t get all the hatred shown towards him on this site

  • JB15 says:

Ivan Juric is Southampton’s next manager.

Despite the media love in for Moyes, most owners recognise that fans don’t want to watch dreadful, defensive football week in, week out.

Whilst it’s also true that Russell Martin’s football, while being good to watch, also doesn’t work when you haven’t got the players to play that way, there has to be a move towards progressive managers.

If only our useless chairman followed suit.

  • Kent Fyne says:

You should ditch the racist description regarding Moyes’ nationality and apologise for the slur.

Is that how we should regard you?

  • John simmonds says:

That’ll be Flynn Downes looking for another club then

    • Martin Treasure says:

I know, I smiled thinking of their first conversation at St Marys

    • B says:

      And Maxwell Cornet.

I can see making the switch from Russell Martins, open & expansive football to Moyes defend deeply, set traps and hit them on the break style, being a bit tricky, if I’m honest.

    • Bennyboy baker says:

David moyes will go down in history at West Ham utd for winning the europa conference cup he should have walked away on a high but love him or hate he did well as our manager the football became poor last season and he really couldn’t carry on like that but since he’s left the football we have been playing under JLo has got even worse I didn’t think that was possible but hear we are with Sullivan dragging things out as usual we need a manager that knows how the game has moved on and have the tactics to do well in the league

      • Mick Irons says:

Oh dear West ham fans never fail to amaze. Moyes has his faults but he not only kept West Ham in the Prem he also won a trophy and had his team playing European football more than once. Exactly were do West Ham fans who go and are over the age of 50 expect there team to be?

I am 50+ have watched football for nearly 41 years regular and remember West Ham challenging for the League once, think Johnny Metgod put that to bed, winning the FA cup once as a Club outside the top flight i may add. They may have won it when i was very young also, the name Taylor comes to mind? This apart maybe someone can remind me of the greatness Moyes never lived up to.

West Ham have produced some quality players and have often bèen known to play exciting football, and they have to be fair but to still now complain about Moyes is absolutely crazy and iv never seen a side beaten comfortably play good passing football.
