David Moyes says he has decision to make

David Moyes says he has a decision to make with regards to his future in East London

Speaking to reporters at Rush Green this afternoon he said in regards to his contract: “We’ve always said we will wait until after the end of the season and I won’t change my views until we get the season out of the way. We have put together as much as we can but ultimately, I have a decision to make.”

On the Leicester win and Premier League safety, he added: “I was more thrilled with how well we played at Leicester. I always wanted it to be done by us. I expected it to go to the last two games of the season.

A big cheer went up from the players but the biggest cheer was the way the supporters reacted to how well we did at Leicester. The players know if we win a couple more games we can get higher up the league. I have to say well done to the players. We had nine points when I came here, it was difficult. We have scored a few goals, need to improve defensively but all credit to the players.”

“A lot of people questioned me when I came in but we have done the job. I have to say I have a top end staff and they have been really helpful.”

  1. Well said , David . Stay with us please . No point in changing a motor if it works . All it needs is an Oil Change and Overhaul . The Mechanic can’t do much about broken parts except replace them ,,,,,, but they need to be fitted correctly don’t forget . You have got untill next season to effect the MOT … get on with it , if the owners ain’t stupid . Not to mention some over expectant fans .

  3. I really hope we do not keep Moyes some of the football this year has been terrible.

I would LOVE to see us (I know this is a pipe dream), but go for Wenger. He has already transitioned a club into a new stadium, on a limited budget (ok well he didn’t spend the budget if it wasn’t there) and always brings through youth players too. Plays attractive football. Surely this is the manager we have been crying out for , for a long long time.

He would help us attract players of a high calibre than our league position warrants, he has said he wants a project ti work on. Sounds like a perfect match for me.

Problem is, he would not come cheap sooooo I doubt it will happen.

  4. can someone figure out where we would have finished if the season had started at the point moyes was brought in? is there a website for that kind of thing?

  5. I’m happy with moyes to have a go as long as the owners put up the money ..that is the thing everyone is waiting for will they spend big ??..if they don’t after what happened this season that will be big problems imo

  6. Under Moyes we have got 29pts from 25 games. Over 38 games that would give just over 44pts. Ideally an allowance should be made for how easy/hard those games were compared to the first 11 but I can’t do that. Also allow a few points for not having any say in the players he had, & for not having a pre season.

Under Bilic we had 9pts from 11. If kept up that would give just over 31 over the season.

So Moyes has done ok. Not sensational, but imo all this guff about certain managers ‘doing an unbelievable job’ (e.g. Carvalhal when he first game in at Swansea/ Darren Moore at WBA) is a load of tosh. You have to judge it over a reasonable period & you should take into account the player quality. I saw quite a few pundits predict a bad season for us back in August. As has been said on here many times since it is an ageing, unbalanced, injury prone squad. Moyes has earned a chance to carry on -if he is mad enough to want to!! But Hammerkip has it right. Whether it works out well does not depend just on him.
