David Moyes talks Kalvin Phillips

David Moyes will hope that Kalvin Phillips can start to show the sort of form he brought him to the club for and demonstrating the same sort of abilities as Declan Rice.

He has explained that he was definitely brought in as a key player and that he believes that will turn out to be the case. He’s not wrong in adding that it will take the defensive midfielder time to settle in as he has of course show already.

But he declared: “I’ve got no problem with that,”  adding that he will become an addition to the squad’s very good midfield players.

He explained: “We’ve got good midfield players. He’s in addition to them. I need him to supplement what I’ve got –   help out through injuries and suspension, and hopefully he’s form would mean that he is always a starter. We’re happy to give them a bit of time and let him break his way in. “

Meanwhile, the manager has explained that it will be a delight to see Declan back at the club tomorrow afternoon as he is a young man of whom everybody at the club thinks the world.

Speaking at the pre-match presser for the game he declared: ” He will be welcomed back with open arms here.  He’s thought the world of by everybody behind the scenes here. And he’s thought of the same way by all the West Ham supporters, for what he did for the Club over the years, the way he conducted himself.

Moyes said  the player showed a lot of class when everybody knew he was leaving adding:  “He showed great qualities. He attended the functions, dealt with young West Ham supporters. So he deserves respect for all those things as well.
