David Moyes has allegedly made West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek a priority transfer target for the upcoming summer window and may also look to bring in fellow compatriot Vladimir Coufal, who will be available on a free transfer.
Soucek, 30, is contracted to the Hammers until June 2027 and is expected to command a high transfer fee. With Graham Potter needing to offload players to fund new signings, the combative Czech Republic international could find himself surplus to requirements at the London Stadium.
Tall, strong, and versatile, Soucek also boasts an impressive goal record, making him the perfect Moyes player. His 37 goals and 12 assists in 231 games are testament to that.
Moyes has spoken highly of both players, previously crediting them for playing a key role in his success at West Ham.
Coufal, at 32, would address a key area of need for Everton, who have struggled with Seamus Coleman’s injury issues and an overreliance on Ashley Young. He could provide a short-term solution to their right-back concerns.
Whether Potter is open to selling Soucek remains uncertain, as the midfielder has been a regular starter under his management. The West Ham boss previously attempted to sign Soucek while at Brighton and has praised his work ethic, stating, “He gives his best every single day and in the games.”
However, with a focus on reducing both the wage bill and the average age of the squad, the club may be willing to let him go. Younger targets, such as Ezechiel Banzuzi and Angel Gomes, have already been identified.
Soucek reportedly earns £90k a week, while Banzuzi would command a significantly lower salary.
Ultimately, every player has a price, and it will be interesting to see if both clubs can reach an agreement when the window opens in four months’ time
if Moyes is still there and he wants one, he’ll take both. whichever one goes first it seems logical he’ll go in to bat for his mate. and they’ll both be keen on hanging together. i’d like Tommy to stay but…all of the above
Potter will want to keep Soucek and so he should
Evidence based??
They are welcome to Coufal. If we can sign Banzuzi or Gomes, and bring in Lewis Orford, Freddie Potts plus George Earthy as an attacking midfielder, Soucek may prefer a move. Patrick Kelly will also be challenging for a place over the next 18 months. Soucek has popped up with some valuable goals, but that midfield is so slow and lacks creativity. The times Soucek, Rodriguez and Soler have been bypassed by quick skillful interplay which has left gaping holes in our midfield. I think Potter will want to keep him for one more season to guide the youngsters with his experience, depending on who we can get in the Summer.
yep. all of that
Soucek is one of those players you moan about he cant pass he has no pace can sit and break up play but any one with pace dances pass him and you whine why does he start surely there is ohhhhh we just scored who got it? Soucek of course its what he does and that is the reason he plays because he has the uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time when the ball comes into the box… He is a likeable man and if/when he goes he will be missed because what he may lack as a technical footballer he makes up with graft and a willingness to do whatever is asked of him without any *****ing unlike many a player today.
These two players will not be coming anywhere near Bramley-Moore next season, except with West Ham, they are both too old to fit the Toffees transfer criterea, and whilst they are decent footballers I doubt they would get into the present Everton side.
Are you having a laugh?
Problem you have mate is attracting new players with ffp rules and your new ground and capacity will not be counted for that this summers window so i expect you will be scrambling around looking for bargains and ones with Prem experience…. Will Moyes still be there after seasons over? dont no but again clubs being hamstrung in what they can spend unless you are Citeh/Chelski who get away with murder.
Mickey – we are just above you in the table and you’ve got a tough remainder of the season. Including Liverpool, Arsenal, Forest, Man City, Chelsea, Fulham, Newcastle and us. Can’t see you getting many points from those games so let’s see how they get on first. You’ve had a good run with Moyes so far and envious of your new stadium, but doesn’t mean you’ve got a better team.
