Everton vs West Ham Preview
West Ham’s Tomáš Souček has endured a rollercoaster couple of weeks, going from a goalscoring birthday boy to the poster boy for defeat.
The big Czech midfielder managed just eight successful passes against Newcastle as Graham Potter’s side struggled for creativity.
I had a great deal of sympathy for Souček, playing in a midfield lacking both a playmaker and pace—an utterly thankless task. But that seems to be the story of his time at West Ham. One moment, he’s a rampaging goalscoring phenomenon, and the next, he’s dropping into defence to facilitate Declan Rice’s development.
That said, the big fella has never given less than 100% for the Hammers, and I suspect he’ll be relishing the trip to Goodison Park this weekend.
Everton vs West Ham presents Souček with a reunion against his former boss, David Moyes. The ex-Irons gaffer would love to bring him to Everton, and I have no doubt a summer bid is incoming. That is a belief which has been backed up with reports and media speculation suggesting the Scotsman has made the big midfielder his transfer priority.
That said, Souček will remain nothing but professional and will be desperate to show his old manager exactly what he’s missing. The 30-year-old has the ability to go from hero to zero and back again, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make a big impact in this game.
Runs around like a headless chicken for most of the game.
dumb remark
When does the Cricket season start ?
Soucek was worthy of his place when he was on the score sheet regularly, but is not good enough for being in the starting line up now.
He doesn’t close down, or tackle enough and is too pedestrian. Check out how many times during a game that he stands off his opponent and just points for others to cover players. So infuriating!
