David Sullivan Should Heed The Warning Captured At 34 Minutes Yesterday

The moment West Ham united fans start voting with their feet and staying away, Julen Lopetegui is in serious trouble. No chairman can ignore falling gate numbers and the head coach will find himself on his way out of any club where the fans turn away from attending.

Delicately captured (as always) by theSun.co.uk yesterday and described with their usual finesse was “HAMDEMONIUM”: “West Ham fans filmed walking out after 34 minutes as they fall 4-0 down to Arsenal in wild first half of football”.

And frankly who can blame them. One of the most difficult journeys in, and out of a football stadium in the Premier League, costly and desperate food and drink offerings after suffering enormous transport, security and turnstile queues – for what?

I’ve never yet walked out early, thanks only to my son point-blank refusing to leave early no matter how awful the circumstances. If I’d have been there yesterday I suspect I’d have been mighty tempted to start heading for the early exit muttering ‘never again’ to myself, trying to get ahead of the walking traffic lights and the queues at Stratford or Hackney Wick stations.

Should Gary Neville continue to decry those fans leaving early, I’d invite him to experience the ‘real’ West Ham fan experience with me one evening and then see how he feels afterwards about those who decide to cut their losses after well over £100 spent and hours getting to the game to be served up such dross.

If fans decide to stay away from the next couple of home games – after all, that kind of performance hardly makes for ‘great expectations’ of December entertainment then David Sullivan will need to act pretty sharpish to put Lopetegui out of his misery and save us all from this slow, lingering spectacle of spineless football. The Hammers’ chairman doesn’t want the pubic admission that he got it wrong with his choice of Lopetegui, but when it starts to hit the club in the pocket – the end is nigh.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

Lopetuigu’s agent, Will salt house, is Sullivan’s mate. Give him the job and salthouse makes a few million, nuff sed

  • Jake says:

Oi Sullivan you cant, are you reading this (probably not!) Act now or else there will be riots!

  • Colin Cornell says:

Well your name might be treasure but you are certainly not one in my view. So, before you start saying I don’t know what I am talking about, this is my 67th season.
Sometimes, we have to accept how good the opposition is and Arsenal were superb in that first 30 minuets.
I am not a fan of the manager but I feel we have to give him December as the games coming up are , however I have never left before half time nor would I ever.
You can’t blame the manager for Killmans mistake because it could have been 2-3 but I thought they never gave up.
Let’s see what happens at Leicester.

Well said young man! fellow supporter for 66 years. I do not understand some of the fans of today, it’s your team you chose to support so support them win lose or draw.

  • Phil Baker says:

Even if Westham had Diego Maradona LOSEpetegui would play him as LB or goalkeeper . Many of his decisions feel like he’s trying to lose or blindly picking player positions out of a hat . Never seen any team ever so badly/negligently coached . Why is Sullivan waiting to sack this worthless piece of SH1T . Westham didn’t exist for the first 35 minutes and LOSEpetegui’s claiming to have won the last 55 arhhhhh .

  • Ricky jonesey says:

The only answer to the problems we are having to endure is to sack JLo and bring in a manager /coach that actually knows what he’s doing as JLo has no idea what he’s doing the sooner Sullivan is bought out of our club the better we need owners who have ambition and that are true football fans and not just interested in how much money they can make we have had years of everything on the cheap all the promises made have not been upheld if JLo remains in charge then we are looking at championship football next season that will result in all our best players forcing there way out of our great club it would be a disaster that may take years to recover from mr Sullivan do the right thing and sack JLo before it’s to late one last thing the managers that are available now to take over and stop the rot won’t be hanging around to long so really it’s now or disaster

    • Matt says:

Sully can stay as the owner just as long as he NEVER picks our coach and stays out of player recruitment

  • John says:

Fed up with it, football was shambolic, supported West Ham for 55 years, train fare goes up every year, season ticket prices going up, left at full time yesterday, got stuck like every game at the stop and go, got to train station at 7:50 pm to find most trains been cancelled, finally got a train home at 11 pm,

    • Matt says:

I would renew that season ticket if Sully sticks with JLo or replaces him with yet another clueless coach.

All that money saved will pay for a lovely holiday where you can relax for a fortnight instead of the stress and disappointment

  • Bennyboy baker says:

Once again we hear JL has two games to turn things around how many more two games is he going to get it’s a absolute joke he should have been sacked ages ago now hear we go again what is wrong with Sullivan things will only get worse and by the time Sullivan sees what everyone else sees we will be relegated or is that what he wants why else would he keep a complete idiot in charge of the squad he has no idea what he’s doing and seems Sullivan has joined in with this no idea of what he is doing he must act now and get rid of JL any other club would have kicked him out ages ago yet we continue to let him drag our players and the club in general Dorito the point that we are a laughing stock the fact he said we were unlucky to lose to Arsenal should have been his last involvement with our great club right now we look like a bunch of muppets with a owner who has lost the plot completely

    • Matt says:

Season over and it’s only just the start of December.

Relegation battle and possible Championship football next year!

      Well done Sully 😡

  • Hammeroo says:

You have to laugh. I read an article by Antony Martin in Hammers News where he says:

“Julen Lopetegui has to find a way to make our home ground a fortress – a place that nobody wants to visit.”

Well, I think he’s already succeeded in that. It seems from the readers comments on here that nobody wants to visit London Stadium to watch the entertainment on offer from West Ham anymore! Well done to Julen Lopetegui. 🙄

  • Kip says:

100% but you know as well.as me this will drag on now like moyes ….because of the Newcastle win .
.lost total interest this season….sullivan will be looking at the next few fixtures as they are winnable games..but when you start thinking like that, your done already..this bloke is a bad manager..we will get the odd good display and that’s it …>i don’t care who.you play but 4_0 down in the first 30 min is unacceptable…..the players we have , tjos should not be happening..the ammount of goals we are conceding is embarrassing…….again over paid privileged morons

    • Matt says:

I’m not going until we become a serious club with a progressive coach, hopefully picked by Tim that is aligned on transfers.

  • FredK says:

I’ve supported the Hammers since 1964 and have experienced some bad displays but this one has to be top of the list. I don’t think I have seen such a clueless display from team and manager. There is no way that Jlo is going to turn it around, there isn’t a spark of anything team like starting to show,we are a mess. I’m sick of hearing the “must win” rhetoric that has continually being repeated. There has to be a reaction from the board. The good transfer window has seemingly not been the case, or has it. There are maybe two or three mistakes but have good players suddenly become duds? I don’t think so. The players seem to have no belief but the way we play is surely a reflection of the managers tactics so IMO the blame lies here. Fans deserve better than this dross and Sullivan need to grow a pair of balls and act now.

    • John simmonds says:

When was the last time Neville made his own way to ground. Queued for ages like cattle. Gotta shit view in cold soulless monstrosity and got ripped off for piss beer and pig swill food. 30 years? More?
Criticism of the team is fine by god they deserved it yesterday. But don’t you dare have a go at West Ham fans.. the best in the league by a mile. Its their money they can do what they like
You plastic make out football fan. Winker!

  • John Mulry says:

60 plus thousand fans leaving any stadium will mean queues. We’re not too bad. Agree with everything else said.

    • Paul W says:

Been away Man Utd, Man City in the last season and neither have issues getting away from the ground. Similar at Newcastle last week and at Spurs. The only ground that has come close this year was Fulham but they have a tin pot ground and a noddy station.

  • D says:

I’ve left early on numerous occasions. Often wishing I’d never gone in the first place. I see absolutely no problem with it with the football we have been churning out for many a year.
With a £30+ fare and one train per hour and a 4 hour round trip plus the walk from the station and stop, go etc I don’t feel one once of guilt and it p-s me off when I either hear other fans or the likes of Neville criticising it. I’ve more than invested my money in this sh**

  • Dave Ash says:

Many headed to the bar area following Arsenal’s 4th goal. Quite a few, like myself, missed our two count for nothing goals, but we’re planning to return for the 2nd half. However a 2nd penalty, giving Arsenal a 5th, it was decided around 15 minutes into the 2nd half, after slowly sipping our half-tine beverages, not to bother but head for home, like many other fans continually streaming towards the exits!!

  • Andy says:

I’m not going back . 2 hours to get there and another 2 hours to get home for that . Was gonna buy a ticket for the Brighton game but after yesterday. That’s enough

  • Matt says:

Steidten’s shortlist of Hurzler, Hoeness and Amorin just makes Sully appointing JLo even more shocking!

  • Hammer 56 says:

I traveled down 200 miles yesterday with my Grandson. I am a season ticket holder and I’ve supported the club for 60 years. I never ever seen anything like what I saw yesterday. The Coach has to go the team is not playing it’s not working we look like a Mid Table Championship side we have suffered heavy defeats to Tottenham Chelsea and now Arsenal. It’s depressing to see and embarrassing. Something has to change any good players that we want to come in on a transfer the first word will be No,

  • Bill Ryan says:

Apparently hes got two games to save his job, why on earth why ,Sullivan is dragging this great club into gutter with his gutless descions and narcissistic ways , and while I’m at sort out this selling tickets to away fans in the home sections, somebody will get seriously hurt and the ramifications on the club will be serious as well as embarrassing

  • Matt says:

Been saying for a while that the disconnect is growing due to performances on the pitch, increased ticket prices, rail fares and cost of living which could see season ticket renewals drop dramatically.

Sully could be hit hard next season if he don’t act now to save this season. JLo has gotta go asap!

  • Chris w says:

We’ve gotta look at the positives, last season under the Moyesiah we lost the home game against the Gooners 0-6, so in a way the result yesterday was three goals better! 😂

    • Matt says:

Or maybe Arsenal just not as good as last year!
TBF to them though, they had one eye on the Man Utd game in midweek

  • John Ayris says:

The Everton game was widely touted to have been the worst premier league game this season. The first half an hour yesterday was nothing short of an embarrassment. Why would anyone put considerable money and effort in for that on a continuing basis. The worst followed by humiliating, frankly it beggars belief.

    • Matt says:

I didn’t trust Sully picking Moyes replacement and JLo has spectacularly proved me right!

Season over before December has even truly got going. 🤦‍♂️

    • JK says:

Sold my ticket for the game yesterday. More and more are doing so, getting fed up surrounded by tourists every game. My mate said the bloke who had my seat turned up at half time and then FaceTimed the whole second half. I’ve had a season ticket for almost 40 years and I’ll put up with the stadium, the queues and the journey home if the football was worth it but this season is raising too many questions.

      • Phil says:

Also sold out tickets once I knew trains were cattled coming in from Kent and Essex – great decision as avoided a 10 hour waste of time , like last season too when we left at 70 mins , so watched the rugby and had a few drinks – that’s entertainment !!

  • keith astley says:

Were they really leaving after 34 mins or just going a pie and a pint and back for the second half?
