Davids keep eyes open for a bargain

Will the Davids grab a couple of late bargains?

Will the Davids grab a couple of late bargains?

It’s now widely accepted that West Ham has completed its summer spending spree but don’t count on it!

ClaretandHugh has reported several times over the last 48 hours that Slaven Bilic eventually plumped for Andre Ayew as his major summer signing and that the arrival of seven other players had all but completed a busy summer.

We have seen Ayew, Feghouli, Nordveidt, young Quina, Fletcher, Tore, Martinez  and Masuaku arrive ahead of the new campaign.

And with the likes of  Oxford, Burke, Samuelsen andCullen awaiting their chances, the club probably have the resources in place for a good Premier League campaign and relatively successful Europa Cup campaign.

However, given the Davids’ track record in the transfer market it would be daft to believe that the door is closed on a couple more arrivals.

No, I do not expect a £25 million striker. In fact that has been ruled out to ClaretandHugh on several occasions over the past few days.

But it would come as no shock at all were a couple more to arrive given that David Sullivan in particular has always loved a bargain.

ClaretandHugh was told earlier: “Yes the main business is now done but you never close your mind to the possibility of a bargain – that’s always possible until the window closes.”

  1. The marquee has been taken down until the start of next summer when season tickets need renewing.Lets hope that the double layer of bubble wrap they had round AC all summer did the trick 🙂

    • He might have to play in it as well rads !lol.
Let’s hope the Dave’s undying blindness finally pays off for us ? And let’s hope calleri comes , cos if true to form comes we need a c/f , sakho if given the chance is the only other option, , we don’t want another makeshift front line like last year .

      • I saw your message about the sprog on the other article but I knew I would catch up with you on another post Johnboy. Thanks for the best wishes mate.Sh*t I have really done it this time lol.Trapped by a figa in the prime of my life 😀

        • Hahaha, its happened to us all ,
Its all about compromise mate !!
Its a whole new ball game , literally ?
          Enjoy it !

  2. I hope this means that they have their eye on a couple of players, say unwanted players like Nasri or Bony, but are going to wait until closer to the deadline and hopefully get them for a steal/loan deal.

    • Me too dj.
I wonder what constitutes a bargain nowadays?
I’d say Bony at £13 mill rather than the £28 mill Citeh paid for him 18 months ago is a steal. I just wonder if he’d be required IF Sak is staying, and we get Calleri.
Come on Dave, get your marquee cheque book out and write a two man pop-up for at least a RB please.

      • I was thinking about this – if Pogba is worth £80-90m and by all accounts Ravel Morrison was a better player, surely going and getting him back would be bargain of the summer? I know he has done some appalling things but at a time when the club is reinventing itself and its image, when Stratford is reinventing itself and its image, maybe it’s time for him to do the same? If any body has a chance of getting the best out of him and keeping him straight its gotta be Slav, Dicksie and Nobes…

Plus the thought of him playing Pogba, the world’s most expensive player, off the park when we play manure amuses me greatly!

  3. Personally I am delighted that both Enner and Sakho have stayed – they will hopefully get loads of opportunity to repay him. I would still take Calleri joins on loan and then I still believe we are in big trouble at RB, Antonio is not a RB and young Byran has yet to fully vindicate that he ready for PL. If he is not we are in trouble. I would be looking out for a top RB on loan in addition to Calleri.

  4. Need a proper right back to free Antonio up. Wasted there.

  5. Is Bilic that stubborn playing Antonio at rb?All the hype about a marquee signing and yet as someone else pointed out rb could be our Achilles heel.If we snared Bony I am sure bubs would be happy and thats good for everyone.LOL.

  6. Byram needs playing time to win you over,I think he will be as good as Cressie, never panics on the ball ,no silly back passes when in trouble putting pressure on the keeper, can overlap and put in good crosses,
His biggest problem and the same for Antonio is the CH who so far playing Reid or Collins there causes a problem,
Novedt could be one cure as he as well looks the part and will not play in his other role unless
Kouyate or Noble get injured or loose their form
I would start with Burke with Oxford as my next choice,
A freebie Right side defender is more important than A forward,
Sak will be fit by next week if he trains hard,AC is there now and with Fletcher and Valencia as cover its not like we don’t have cover,
If Slav is right another couple of weeks and Calleri will be here and fit from then Olympics,
Still think Enner will leave, and we will regret not covering AC with a real target man like Bony,
I would sooner sign Bony now make it clear there will be no signings in January and next year only deals to buy Tore and Calleri will be sanctioned,
The fans would know and live with it knowing we have
    Fletcher,Martinez,Quina,Cullen,Samulsun,Oxford,Burke,
Henry,Poyet,Page, all on the point of breaking into the first team,
Well I would be happy anyway
Keep the same players togeather no changes and push forward,

    • Nice post bubs.
I agree re. Bony if as you suggest we buy now for the long term.
We may have to replace Calleri come seasons end as he’s only a loan AFAIK, and we also desperately need a RB imo.
A year for the team to gel and overcome any L Stadium ‘teething problems’ and I think it’s happy days for us!

  7. Bubs, Byran cannot defend as well as Cresswell that’s the difference between them, just my opinion btw
