Dawson Hammers deal now actively underway

|

By Hughie Southon

West Ham are set to sign Watford’s Craig Dawson early this week.

ClaretandHugh understands that the Will Salthouse owned player is on his way to the London Stadium as the expected fourth central defender.

And it will be a surprise – with no fee yet disclosed – whether the 30 year old will have cost the Irons much more than £2m-£3 million with the Hornets desperate to get players off the wage bill following relegation.

Dawson has long been in the frame for a move to the Hammers following the reported failed moves for a variety of apparently highly priced foreign options.

But most believed that the club would finally decide on the cheap Watford option  with personal terms currently to be finalised ahead of the player taking a medical during the course of the next few days.

Claretandhugh was told by sources close to the deal: “It’s not done but talks are continuing.”

Dawson will become the fifth West Ham player from the Salthouse stable which seems much favoured by David Sullivan, the others being Darren Randolph, Ryan Fredericks, Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio..

Sorry not sure you have watched Dawson, he is slow, he was part of the worst defense in the PL and was supposed to the main player in that defense. I don’t think any hammer fan wants this transfer – a really stupid signing. We need a top CH so if we cant get one wait till Christmas,=, it makes absolutely no sense to spend and waste money on a has been. Young Johnson, Ashby or Alese can fill in if needed. Incredibly stupid signing in my opinion.

    From tarkowski to Dawson

    Oh so Sullivan

    • I_Am_The_Resurrection says:

Yep, but not a surprise is it?
Sullivan’s more transparent than a pair of third-hand knickers.
The bloke, and his cronies, need to go.

  • Julian Woodhouse says:

About Sullivan’s level, totally underwhelming and would rather have an academy player as back up than see Dawson signed. He adds nothing to the squad, no chance of competi g ot a starting spot, so will just pick up money for sitting on the bench. GSB out

  • George says:

Moyes wanted Tarkowski, Sullivan delivers Dawson.Moyes integrating Diangana,Sullivan sells him and, now, offers him a choice of two very different players – You couldn’t make it up!!

  • Sullywhu says:

All the players gone and on loan Anderson etc millions saved on wages and we get a poor man’s tarwkoski… Sums em up barrow boy mentality… 😬😬😬

Johnham1 couldn’t have put it better. Is this a sully cheap buy moysie must do or is Moyes just throwing away cash ? Wait till Jan only weeks away for another bite and we have cover hopefully not needed. Great signings would be Ben from bees and only 10 mill tops for a out of contract king in nine months Bournemouth being greedy there so no deal higher is fine as that’s his top price imo. Hopefully we can get rod instead of spuds to make this a really good end of summer transfer period and well done to Moyes not my ideal coach but credit where’s due .

Dawson and Deeney, young hungry with an eye for the future. This option has bargain bucket written all over it.

  • We don’t use swear words here, nor do we abuse people because of their age. Stick to football not personal abuse. That dirty little comment has been binned

stop putting our club down you doom merchants dread us winning. You would have nothing to moan about. Dawson will probably be cover.

  • suffolkcrock says:

    Dawson never!
Deeney…don’t like him as a person but he can unsettle defences and does score. Could be a useful back up and might even liven up our attack.

  • Mick says:

Dawson would be a good signing. Experienced premier league defender. Only coming in as a back up fourth choice. I’m guessing Balbuenas performances in the last twice games have convinced us we don’t need a big signing at the back just yet. We can make do til January at least.

  • GJB says:

Dawson, meh, back up at best, will be subbed on for the final 10 minutes, now Deeney is a different matter, personally I don’t like him, he’s more thug than player, but he works hard from one end of the pitch to the other, he gets in players heads & he scares defences, would rather he played for us than against us, honestly can’t see him in a hammers shirt, & please stop with the King malarkey, he would be the biggest waste of money so far
