CandH Exclusive: Dawson new contract update

By Hughie Southon

West Ham aren’t convinced the club can agree a new deal with Craig Dawson.

The central defender was keen to move further north for family reasons in the summer but with Issa Diop moving to Fulham we were unable to find a replacement as he looked Wolves-bound.

The Hammers will be making the player a new offer this winter but remain uncertain that he will agree to another year or two.

However, ClaretandHugh has learned the player still sees the north as his favoured option and the likelihood is that he will move on at the end of his contract.

Daws has become a huge favourite with the fans and there would be massive disappointment if the Irons fail to sign David Moyes’ bargain player from Watford.

But speaking to us exclusively a key Hammers insider declared: “He wants the north long term but we will certainly put a new offer in front of him.”

  1. Dawson has deserved his move for family reasons with his professional attitude, unlike Payet who refused to train. We should let him go in January as we will have Aguerd back and could still bring in a new signing. I feel he will be a long time retired though as they say and may well later regret his decision to leave West Ham.

  2. He deserves the respect to go ‘north’ but not to a Prem rival for next to nothing. We deserve a bit of compo to sell him as he is clearly a valuable asset and all parties should be satisfied.

  3. I did see the suggestion from someone on social media that the club buys him a helicopter 😎🚁
