Dawson reckons Dec will get better and better

Craig Dawson has waxed lyrical about Declan Rice!

The defender has been at the heart of our brilliant recent form, as has Dec in central midfield.

The pair have played key roles in helping the Hammers up to fourth, where we are in with a genuine shout of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time ever.

It’s all the more remarkable when we consider that Dawson arrived on loan from Watford with precious little fanfare in the summer transfer window.

He was given the keys to the Hammers’ Twitter account on Wednesday to answer questions from fans in a Q&A.

And he was asked who the hardest trainer is at the club, with Dec getting a glowing recommendation from his team-mate, who believes he can only get better!

He wrote: “Dec. Didn’t realise how good he was until you see him day in and day out.

“The level he’s at now is unbelievable but he’s also got incredible potential. He’s quality but he works extremely hard every day in training.”

Rice has captained the Hammers at times this season and is also now a firm part of Gareth Southgate’s England plans ahead of the rescheduled Euro 2020 next summer.

  1. Pay Rice a top top salary, give him the captaincy and the no.6 shirt for next season and for many seasons to come. He can be West Ham’s spiritual B.M.
