Day of reckoning and two big changes needed Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini is surely in last chance saloon chance and only a massive change of approach can save him but I’m not holding my breath he will show the nous required to do the necessary.

He has shown no willingness to make obvious changes at front and back but today, if he has the remotest chance of wanting to hang on at the club for a bit longer, he has to make two big formation changesĀ  my view.

How he has stayed with the same defensive formation as the team has regularly shipped three goals a game is something nobody can possibly answer.

The reasons are only inside his head where a muddled mess of idea on what his best team seems to exist but today he needs to be bold and courageous.

We need three at the back in Diop, Ogbonaa and Balbuena with Fredericks and Cresswell either side as the wing backs.

Rice and Noble are set for the holding and defensive roles with Snodgrass in front of them behind Antonio and Haller.

That’s my team because neither Fornals or Anderson have offered enough for me despite the Spanish midfielder improving since Wolves.

I’m not expecting to see my hopes answered. I’m expecting a defeat as a result and I’m expecting him to be sacked if so, should there be any justice in this world.

My team: Martin, Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Creswell; Rice, Noble, Snodgrass, Haller, Antonio.

  1. I totally agree with the article in terms of formation but I have to say Fredericks is muck and has to be dropped and we cant have both Noble and Snodgrass in the team. Anderson needs to play, though I agree he has looked off colour of late.

  2. I’d like to see that formation today too.

Although i’d rather see Anderson (maybe Fornals) given a free behind a front two. I think he’d do better with more options around him.

Then I don’t care whether its Snodgrass or Noble that get the ‘loved by the fans even though not performing’ role next to Rice.

  3. As Johnham 1 has said Hugh i cannot see how we can continue with Noble and Snodgrass in Midfield.Old legs and we get overrun in midfield.Apart from that it looks a good team set up.Anderson had his best game for the club away to Southampton last season, may be a good omen although he is an enigma and needs to start chipping in with some goals and running at players more.

  4. I agree with the formation two up top but I thinks Anderson is better then Snoddy . With two up top he can pick a pass and have more of a free role. We live in hope .

  5. I am hearing Pellegrini has changed to a 4-4-2 because Anderson picked up a knock to his ankle in training. I am hearing he was planning to play only one up top. I believe he must be sacked whether we win lose or draw today. Incredible to see an a manager with such a stubborn attititude that he does not see the need to change the system and play two up top.

    • If that’s the case I agree he has to go.Stubborn old goat is determined to get sacked.Even the footballing Gods are trying to change the lineup of 2 up front by injuring Anderson for him.Its Laughable.
