The consensus is that the exodus of players from West Ham United’s overall squad is about to begin. After bringing in eight new recruits – and counting – this transfer window, in the time that remains it will be crucial to trim both the wage bill and the places in the squad to those whom Lopetegui and Steidten have identified as having a long-term future at West Ham.
One such fringe player who is on his way is the Brazilian Luizão who has yet to feature under either David Moyes or his successor: The 22 year old was bought in from São Paolo at the start of 2023 on a free transfer and has so far only played in the under 21 ‘s and must be wondering what East London is all about, being a left-footed centre back at the beginning of his career who cannot get a game.
Claimed by Sportwitness to be on his way back to Brazil on loan with an option to purchase – it is the option which is taking the time to agree, apparently, with The Hammers seeking a percentage of any future sell-on value.
Brazilian club Corinthians are the side coming to the rescue for Luizão’s career so that hopefully he can get more time on the pitch. We wish him well.
