Football ITK and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has tweeted a picture of Tim Steidten and Jean-Clair Todibo aboard the private jet that brought the defender to England to sign for West Ham.

So far in this transfer window, we’ve been starved of the iconic ‘Air Steidten’ photos that our director of football often shares with the Italian journalist and influencer. If there were any doubts about where the Italian football insider sources his information, this pretty much confirms it.

Romano’s tweet was accompanied by the usual transfer details, confirming that the former Barcelona central defender is set to sign his Hammers deal imminently. Romano also credits Steidten with getting the deal over the line and ‘hijacking’ the transfer, referencing the reported interest from Juventus.

“Exclusive pic of Jean-Clair Todibo with West Ham director Tim Steidten in London after the mission! Tim Steidten’s blitz in Nice and hijack revealed in last 24h made the difference to get the deal done. Todibo will sign for #WHUFC in the next hours. Massive one.”

Perhaps blitz and hijack were an interesting choice of words when attributed to a plane flying over London, nonetheless, another transfer bagged for Super Steidten.

Decades of being the butt of the transfer jokes made me so cautious, especially in recent years. We always seem to show our hand and some other PL team would swoop in and take the best on offer. Finally, a transfer window that makes me dare to wonder what the season ahead might hold. I hope for every West Ham fan out there that this bubble doesn’t burst any time soon and we are in there fighting for the Euro places in May.

Seven down and one to go? In the end, this could turn out to be a very strong 24/25 team and this time hopefully a contender for important things.

Have the makings of a very decent squad (not just first 11), but after seeing the shambles in Tampa last Sat, I think it’ll take some time for them to gel…
