West Ham’s slow motion auction for Mohammed Kudus seems, finally , to be getting up to – half – speed. Which is better than the crawl that began the transfer window.

Tottenham’s underbidding matches West Ham chairman’s favourite negotiating ploy so the two chairmen are well matched. Without a third party – another bidder – you’d feel the negotiations have ‘impasse’ written all over them.

Reportedly, this morning, ‘in the know’ journo Fabrizio Romano claims that there is now urgency behind Tottenham’s position as fear grow over the strength of their bid being diluted with other bidders moving in.

All very well trying to buy at under market value but that leaves a vulnerability: Another club can steam in and whip the player out from under the underbidder’s nose.

Romano has taken to his twitter account this morning with an update, claiming that :

“Tottenham are set to bid again for Mohammed Kudus next week as player’s keen on joining Spurs. Chelsea have also been in touch with Kudus’ camp with more clubs also interested, but Spurs want to accelerate. Thomas Frank already approved Kudus as key target.”

Accelerate? I’m sure they do with Chelsea and ‘more clubs’ interest. Time, for once is on West Ham’s side here so they certainly won’t be grabbing Spurs latest lowball bid, reportedly £55million. Pay the price or run the risk of losing out. With even Arsenal reported this Sunday morning as being back in the frame, Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is playing a dangerous game. And the clock is ticking.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

With you Trevor, makes sense keep our assets and build on it.

Keep him and play him in his right position. The board can finance deals upto £90million without breaking any rules or financial regulations. Keep Pacqueta as well when he finally gets cleared

I like Kudus happy to keep him if he gets his head down he’s fantastic . However my guess is he will go if Arsenal are interested rather he go there than Spurs . The problem with that is Arsenal if they get a Striker might win the league . Not sure I want any north london club winning the league . What do you do need the cash and major rebuild for Potter ! Let’s get some signings

Would love to see the poor Kudus from last season playing at Spurs. Especially if they’d paid 60 odd million for him but theres always the danger he might find some good form so I’d prefer it if he went elsewhere really and because it’s Spurs. Imagine Kudus coming back and scoring against us for Tottenham in our own stadium. No we can’t have that.

We are forced into paying an asking price for a player,so why would Levy think we would sell Kudus under price.Hope Kudus gets snapped up elsewhere.
