Declan Rice is proud of his Hammers side after their battling display against Manchester City.
Going up against a rampant Blues side, it was always going to be mightily difficult for the Irons to take anything from the game.
But they gave absolutely everything they had as they went mightily close to snatching a point from the team that look nailed on to win the Premier League title. Their win puts them 13 points clear at the top.
Goals from Ruben Dias and John Stones ultimately proved decisive but Rice played a key role in Mikey Antonio’s equaliser, winning the ball back high up the pitch and allowing the Irons to counter and move the ball to Vlad Coufal, whose cross was met by Jesse Lingard. His scuffed effort was poked in at the back post.
Rice never stopped throughout the game, constantly winning the ball back in midfield and trying to kickstart attacks.
And he took to Twitter after the game to tell fans just how proud he was of the lads.
He wrote: “Proud of the way the lads competed and played today! So unlucky not to come away with anything! Onto the next one we go.”
We have a week off now before our clash with Leeds.
