Declan and Mooro – one vital difference

Declan has often been described as the new Bobby Moore.

And those who believed he would come this far and eventually follow in the same England’s captain footsteps look as though they had it right from the start.

They are very alike on the pitch although maybe Dec is busier simply because Mooro had all the time in the world.

Beyond that there’s  one huge difference between the two men and that is their vocal approach to the job before and after internationals.

Bob remained as silent as it gets whilst our Dec is a guy who can’t stop ‘choppsing’ about what they will do and what they achieved during the game before moving onto the next one.

He always makes perfect sense and is already starting to talk like a future skipper but it’s all very un-Mooro like.

As a personality most of us can see into every compartment of Dec’s character – Mooro was a different kettle of fish and kept many of his closed from the public gaze.

Even in private conversations Bob would say less than most but one thing’s for sure: He’ll be looking down on the academy product and smiling.

If he were still around I reckon he’d be saying little more than “well done son” and ” keep improving.”

That was Mooro!

  1. Dec is superb for us and at his age he can only improve,
but Bobby Moore was in a different class, his level of ability and footballing intelligence is incomparable.
