Declan in the thick of it as England dominate

England and Declan Rice set up a mouth-watering World Cup quarter-final clash with France by thumping Senegal 3-0 on Sunday.

The Three Lions went into the game full of confidence, having won Group B, thanks to big wins over both Iran and Wales, as well as a draw with the USA.

Senegal came into the game after finishing second in the group with the Netherlands, Ecuador, and hosts Qatar.

But England completely overwhelmed the African side, and goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane, and Bukayo Saka gave Gareth Southgate’s side a big win.

Declan was superb in midfield, keeping the game ticking over and continually playing the ball to the superb Jude Bellingham alongside him in the midfield pivot.

England will now play France on Saturday in a blockbuster quarter-final, with Les Bleus knocking out Poland in the earlier game on Sunday.

Declan will almost certainly play, and is likely to be absolutely central to any hopes the Three Lions have of beating France, and eventually going all the way.
