Declan misses out

Declan Rice has missed out on winning the England Player of the Year award to Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, 90min reports.

Rice was in the running to win the award, along with Saka and Harry Kane but the Gunners ace has won the award.

He has played for the Three Lions nine times since September 2021, scoring three goals and providing two assists in that time.

Rice came second in the voting amongst England fans, with Spurs striker and England captain Kane in third.

Of course, the Three Lions had a superb run to the final of Euro 2020 last year, with Rice and Kane both key, while Saka played his part too, although his run would end in heartbreak, as he missed a penalty in the final shootout against Italy.

Still, he has now been presented with the award as Gareth Southgate continues to build his national team around youth.

England face Italy in a Nations League clash this evening.
