Declan says sorry

|

Declan Rice’s missed penalty kick left the Hammers without a certain point from the game at Nottingham Forest and drew an apology after the game from the skipper,.

Declan had hardly have hit a worse spot kick which probably didn’t carry the weight of a decent back pass and was headed nowhere but into goalkeeper Dean Henderson’s grateful arms.

It really was that sort of afternoon with the Hammers also hitting the woodwork twice and seeing a Benrahma goal ruled out for a foul by Antonio on a Forest defender.

Any hopes Dec had of emulating his hero, former Hammers captain Mark Noble, as a penalty kick specialist disappeared as he looked on in despair at his tame attempt.

But he issued a quick apology after the fame when deciding to use Twitter to hold his hands up to colleagues and the fans.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, he said: “Can only Apologise for the penalty miss, thought we created enough to get something from the game.

“We go again & stay together.”
