Declan singles out a special Iron

Declan Rice has joined the chorus of praise for a young Hammer whom it’s going to be harder and harder to keep out of the team.

However, when everybody is fit it is looking tricky to see how he can keep his place in Davis Moyes’ starting line-up.

That’s for later of course but in the meantime Declan is making it very clear publicly that a former academy team mate is serious Hammers business and he is clearly a player who could save the club an awful lot of money in the transfer market.

He’s also a player of whom Claret and Hugh blogger, former academy director, Terry Westley, has spoken her in the highest possible terms declaring that he ticks every box as a player.

Ben Johnson has been amazing since he came into the team in Vladi Coufal’s absence, growing and growing as a player.

And Declan left nobody in doubt about how he feels about the young man simply saying on Twitter: “Ben Johnson, that’s all” and accompanied it with a clapping hands emoji.

Terrific to see another one of our own heading for the heights

  1. It seems strange, but Delan and Ben were also former teammates in the U23’s side. Just as we all saw the ability within Declan when he first came into our side, the same can be said of Ben Johnson also.
At this stage, everyone has started noticing Ben’s performances now that he has had a chance to play in his natural position and there can be no doubt, that he has a Big Future ahead of him.
The Academy is up and running and there are more youngsters on the way through.
