Declan starts for England in Montenegro

Declan Rice will be thrown into the Montenegro lions den to night as he steps out for his first full international.

Gareth Southgate was  impressed enough with the Hammers ‘boy wonder’ against the Czech Republic to include him in what is bound to be a fiery encounter against this particular international side.

Dec’s ice cool temperament will no doubt be tested to the limit – along with the other youngsters – in front of Montenegro fans who take no prisoners in support of their team.

Declan is set to gets his chance after replacing Dele Alli in the 63rd minute of the 5-0 victory over the Czechs as boss Gareth Southgate blooded some of the next wave of talent to come through.

It would be another huge breakthrough for the 20 year old defensive midfielder in a season of high points for the young man after making his controversial decision to commit to England.

Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi who was very impressive in last Friday night’s game at Wembley will start.

That would be another brave move by the Three Lions boss as he trusts youth in the hostile atmosphere of the Podgorica City Stadium.

Commenting on the reception Declan and the rest of the team were likely to receive Southgate said: “I know the passion the supporters have for their country and of course that gives a huge lift to their own team. We have to make sure our discipline is right and we focus on what we can affect.

“We are guests here, so we will be very respectful about how we speak about the opposition. Our players have to be prepared for hostile environments, whether it is in England for their clubs or travelling around the world.”

England: Pickford, Walker, Keane, Maguire, Rose, Barkley, Rice, Alli, Sterling, Kane, Hudson-Odoi
