Dec’s huge role in five clean sheets

Declan Rice’s massive importance to England was demonstrated again as the team kept it’s fifth successive clean sheet of the tournament against the Ukraine last night.

His display against Scotland – like the rest of the team – may have been a low point but beyond that he has been totally brilliant in front of the back line.

His progress has of course beenĀ  entirely astonishing over the last couple of years and to become part of an England team which were to win its first major tournament in 55 years would be nothing less than incredible.

Dec was again in superb form and is slowly adding a forward motion to his game, striding in with enormous purpose to send in a stinging shot which was well saved at one point.

The Ukranians were absolutely no match for the Three Lions with Hammer Andriy Yarmolenko all but anonymous as Gareth Southgate’s boys played some quite superb football.

Next, Denmark – bring it on!
