Deep gloom but no public announcements

West Ham United will be making absolutely no public declarations on Sam Allardyce’s position until the last ball of the season has been kicked.

ClaretandHugh has taken very much on board the worries and frustrations of fans wanting an end to the constant speculation over the manager’s position.

But despite constant nagging, the club is keeping the shutters closed until the end of the season in line with their well known and oft stated policy.

However, there is desperate gloom about the team’s inability to hold onto leads with one source saying: “It’s become a pschological thing and people aren’t helping themselves in trying to protect one goal leads.

“We are allowing teams to dominate us at home and at times look like a League Two side defending against a Premier League side. ”

However, the board is remaining entirely tight-lipped on the managerial issue given that all sides involved have given each other their word nothing will be said before the end of the season.

  1. Where are talking about Mr. Nothing, not Guardiola or Ancelotti; I don’t understand what the owners have to think about… Looks like they got themselves a life and death decision to make… Ehi Davids, he’s just a clown, no tricks please!

    BFS OUT (OF MIND)

  2. I think pro-Sam or anti-Sam, this contract situation is a contributing factor to how the second half of the season has gone. I think Sam’s remaining option now to lift some of the doom and gloom is to blood one or two youngsters in the remaining games to get some of the crowd back on his side. Also young players can give the side a bit of a lift.

As for the managerial situation, one way or another this is a huge decision, all clues seem to indicate that Sam’s contract will not be renewed in line with the boards reputation of not sacking managers very often so nice way out for them here. But my big concern is who to replace him with. There are not many top options out there and I’m not 100% convinced about a foreign manager without much knowledge of the English language. All very well wanting change but the change has to be right.

  3. surely Gold & Sullivan aint that blinkered not to see the empty seats on saturday when the attendance was given at 34 thousand plus we all know that season tkt holders numbers in these figures lie. so dont matter if you go or not its number crunching are the fans turning I hope so & ive seen the prices for Everton game Β£55 quid ha ha ha im glad to stay away as for next manager I dont really care anymore as all G & S are money grabbers

  4. Also Mr. Bean would be better than BFS; I don’t understand the problem of the language: Koeman, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Benitez (Liverpool or Napoli), Bielsa (Olympic Marseille), etc etc. . how did they communicate, through smoke signals? lol

    • Koeman speaks good English and as for some of the others, they have joined teams with lots of money. I don’t think language would be an issue either if we have 100 million to spend in the summer. But we don’t have that money and we are not at that level either so I do think that language would be an issue for us.

Bielsa has a decent reputation but looking at his record in club football I don’t see anything to indicate that this guy is going to be a huge success with us.

    • Can’t disagree too much with your assessments there, so Laudraup gets your pick. Do you think he is the guy to take us to the next level in the new stadium etc.? Is he the best option available to us?

Any others names to throw into the hat? Slaven Bilic, is he realistic?

  5. Some of the foreign names mentioned are too risky as we can’t attract the top guys at the moment, we are not in that situation yet. Benitez will not come as we are not big enough or ready yet for that ilk. Moyes, I can’t see him leave Spain so soon as he has a great opportunity to build some reputation there. So what are we left with? Who can take us to the next level?

I see no manager in the Premier League we can prize away so that would leave us in the Championship or some lesser known foreign manager with no experience of the Premier League.

Any ideas? Can we actually name 5 proper and realistic candidates who we can actually get and can take us to the next level?

For starters, I’ll throw Eddie Howe in as a young manager who fits the new era profile and I think would be a popular choice. Strangely I’m actually hoping in some way Bournemouth don’t get promoted so we can get him as I don’t think he’d leave if they do get promoted which is bad as I like Bournemouth.

    So in no particular order,
    1. Eddie Howe – would he be an improvement?
    2. Steve McClaren – would divide opinion
    3. Michael Laudraup – has managed before
    4. Gus Poyet – linked strongly last summer
    5. ????

any of the above an improvement?

    • 1/, if he can’t get Bournemouth up then he’s no better than SA, and even if he did, SA did that, so that’s not really a qualification
2/ Wally with a brolly, famous for no planB
      3/ would fit the role
4/ No, if he’s being replaced by SA, that says it all
5/ my choice, Wenger, not good enough for 80% of gooner fans but when I put his name up on here, no one argued

  6. Now I must work, but later I’ll reply to you…

  8. Ahaha… 30 minutes and I’ll reply don’t worry… I’m eating…

  9. If they announced that Sams contract was not going to be renewed at the end of the season the switchboard would be inundated with requests for season tickets for years to come.
This is making me feel very uneasy……………….

  10. Ok, here I am. First of all I’m not English, so sorry if don’t speak English very welll. I’ll try to explain what I think about this situation. I’m convinced that the biggest problem remains the fear: fear to change, beacuse you don’t know what will happen tomorrow. It’s human, but history teaches the change goes through the revolution. If you don’t change, you will always be the same. The question is: do you like this situation? Which are your ambitions? What do you expect from West Ham? Ok, if you want boring football, BFS is the answer, if you don’t want youth players BFS is the answer, if you want mediocrity BFS is the answer, if you want poor exuses BFS is the answer, if you want Nolan and long balls BFS is the answer, if you have no dreams BFS i s the answer. Don’t worry, history speaks for himself, his trophy cabinet is empty and always will be; tomorrow he won’t wake up becoming Pep Allardyce, he is and he always be BFS, a loser without ambitions. You ask me which is my favourite manager… I’ve always said (reading the list of the possible managers) I would like Bielsa (he has a very good curriculum and he plays entertaining football); Laudrup, Poyet, Mc Laren? I never mantioned them and I don’t like them so much. Howe? Yes, why not? The point is: you know who is Allardyce and you know his limits, if he remains you can’t afford to dream. Probably I’m a dreamer, but I’m not a stupid: I perfectly know we can’t win PL next year: I just want entertaining football, ambitions, a modern manager and a real project. Maybe it’s too much to hope… And please stop with words like stability: we played well during the first two months of this season just because his two muppets where out… who changed that winning system? BFS. Last season we got out of this by some miracle, and now we have a relegation average… Is BFS the answer? πŸ˜‰

At least after the last week we haven’t lost our sense of humour unlike WHUtiligetconfued,
Just think after Man City put us to the sword this week how confused they will be ?

  18. ahahhaahah… I love stats, next match we’ll see Samuel Einstein with a calculator chewing his gum and lying on the bench…loool

  19. Lol,they think they are the biggest because they assume they are the ‘West Ham Think Tank’.They dont realize that people actually like to read articles with players & the board speaking in them. Not their repetitive threads going over the same old ground, over & over & over & over…well you get the idea. Then if you do try to get involved they call you a troll πŸ˜‰

  20. ahahahhaha… one of those stats-man said: “What do you think about Ancelotti?” or “No. no. no Klopp is known for his long balls style” (Klopp???? not Sam lol)… soon someone will say “mmm… And Messi? I think Sam could draw his attention” looool

  23. Im telling you Matte,by the time that lot on wetpantswhenidie stop banging on again & again about the management situation we could have a C&H space ship on jupiter, refloated the Titanic, taken it on a world cruise & built a McDonalds on the top of Everest & they would still be going on about it,lol, everyone knows Mr.Bean is the way forward, lets just get the deal done πŸ˜‰

  24. ahahhahaahahah…. I know Tyson, I like what you wrote… lol… I was thinking to myself …Imagine what will happen when the change of the manager will be official… What will happen? What are stats-men supposed to do? Will the world end? I’m scared, so scared…lol

  25. I might support the same team as those guys but a few of them are total tools.I saw a post earlier where some geezer said that people on C&H dont even have season tickets.Ffs,i have travelled all over europe with The Irons but i dont even have a season ticket.I agree with Ty,wheres the chopsticks!!!
