Defender Feels Liberated Following Lopetegui Departure

West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo is said to be gutted that he has been unable to take a starring role in Graham Potter’s new Hammers team.

As Claret & Hugh exclusively revealed this week, the Frenchman is absent with an injury for at least five weeks, ruling him out until the Premier League fixture against Leicester.

Todibo famously had a falling out with former boss Julen Lopetegui, and some of the accusations are unprintable, quite frankly. Suffice to say, the central defender did not hold his former boss in high regard and was delighted with the appointment of Potter.

With suspended Konstantinos Mavropanos having something of a ‘mare’ recently, it’s safe to say that Todibo would have been playing under Potter.

The former Barcelona man’s style is far more suited to the tactics under West Ham’s new gaffer, and he is said to be desperate to get going and prove his worth in East London following a slow start

The Lopetegui problem has been solved so now nothing needs to be kept “behind closed doors” and hopefully Todibo will grow into a real asset. It is funny how a club that generally displays no scruples whatsoever, is so coy about what goes on beyond the dressing room.

Unimpressed with Todibo . Not only is he injured most of the time , in addition he himself claims to be only 80 percent fit hallway through a season which is totally unacceptable . Better off trying Aguerd in his preferred role as a high line defender in a possession based tactical set up . Todibo never wanted Westham and appears to be another broken donkey unfit for service .

Tend not to agree. He’s not had a chance yet due to a combination of issues.

We seem very quick these days to make our decisions on players. For example under the correct leadership and style who would now say Aguerd wouldn’t be worth another try.

Let’s give the players an opportunity.

I’d say that definitely includes Irvine and if we get to a position of ‘comfort’ in the league, Guillherme. That’s one that could come back to haunt if we get rid too soon.

Todibo and Kilman will make a formidable CB pairing for us once given time and proper coaching/setup that I have every faith GP will add.

Fused with a more authoritative keeper – jury is still out on Areola, sadly – and a CDM who can get stuck in without amassing a whole deck of yellow cards in a season – jury is still out on Alvarez, sadly – and I think we have a strong spine to build on.

I fancy Scarles to become 2nd choice to Emerson, until the latter leaves, making him first choice for the next 10 years, and AWB is here to stay, completing our defence.

Then it’s just the rest of the team that needs firming up. For me, it’s Summerville (with a little extra bulk on him) left, Bowen right, Kudus as the 10, leaving just two positions to fill… 8 and 9.

Fingers crossed Fullkrug comes good – if not, a Diafra Sakho style striker (without the attitude) would be great.

And Freddie Potts comes into the 8 to boss the middle of the park! COYI!

I’m afraid it means Rodriguez and Paqueta go. Soler and Soucek backups. Irving still has something to prove, but I hope he comes good.

That’s 100% the side I would play, with Potts MkII as the icing on the cake! I’d play Scarles at LB LWB as we could get some cash for Emerson from Italy. Orford and Earthy will be back next season bigger and more experienced, sadly Marshall may not be as good as previously thought, which is a shame as I really liked what I’d seen with the U18’s and U21’s.
The future could still be bright if only the cockwomble running the show buggered off! 😡

We all know there is a battle at the top – a board room turf war between Sullivan and Kretinsky. Kretinsky must wonder what the hell he has got himself into. He must have total contempt for Sullivan everybody else does. Sullivan chose Lopetegui (not to improve West Ham) but to spike Kretinsky’s DOF policy. You think I’m being paranoid and ridiculous – you don’t know how devious and dubious Diddy Dave is.

  • John Harrison says:

TS brought this guy in despite strong interest from Juventus. I can sense history is about to be rewritten yet again. Todibo is about to go from being a terrible Tim Stediten signing (like Kudus, Summerville and Wan Bissaka) to a pretty good (or even outstanding) one. Love it.

  • Ben says:

“and some of the accusations are unprintable” come on, please share 😉

  • John Ayris says:

Just one of the downsides of making the deranged appointment of Lopteegui. Nobody but nobody thought it the right thing to do.

  • Terry says:

I’ve waited a long time to see what the fuss was regarding signing Todibo ,so let’s hope this is the kick start that we’ve been longing for

    • Mr Grumpy says:

I’ve seen glimpses of potential. Let’s hope he gets on the pitch and isn’t another Kieron Dyer.
