Defender gets new contract hope

|

West Ham will review Angelo Ogbonna’s contract situation at the end of the season.

The long serving Oggy has made it clear on the club’s website that he would love to get another year minimum at the club.

The central defender rises 35 in May and there have to be doubts whether David nmoyes would want him to remain in the first team squad at such an age.

However, such has been his form this term that the club are clearly considering offering him yet another deal despite that.

Injured last season he has finally returned to a good level of form and with Craig Dawson leaving for Wolves and Kurt Zouma injured on various occasions the Italian has been well worthy of a place in the squad having also captained the team in Europe.

Asked whether a new deal could be on the table our key source at the London Stadium said: “Possibly. We’ll review at the end of the season when we know where we are.”

Love Oggy with his silky skills and defenders brain. As we stand at the moment, he must get a new contract. Like Nobes later on, he has lost pace but has a good head and heart and brings so much to the squad.
