Somewhat understated, compared to the higher profile given to Crysencio Summerville’s recent run of five goals in as many games, latest West Ham goal scorer Taty Castellanos has quietly impressed with his huge work rate and team ethic.
As he showed against Burnley, he’s got a striker’s instincts in him too, with his Andy Carroll-like bullet header exhibiting a striker’s pedigree, illustrating just what West Ham have been missing up front for so long.
Castellanos is something of a football journeyman having played in MLS before Serie A, but has quickly impressed with a fierce loyalty to his new club. A full Argentine international, the 27 year old displays affection already for his team and team mates – that is evident on the pitch as he has run his socks off in every one of his appearances so far.
Clearly he believes in leaving nothing in reserve.

Taty Castellanos – early signs are encouraging that he might buck the trend of striker flops
Perhaps epitomising the wave of resilience which West Ham seem to have finally discovered, Castellanos speaks of his passion for his new club in terms which bode well for his claret and blue future:
“I’m very lucky to be able to defend this shirt. I’ve been given the opportunity to be here and I have to defend it to the end. Obviously, I’m very happy for my first goal here in the Premier League.” (whufc.com)
‘Defending the shirt‘ indeed. No wonder he’s already got his admirers and his own song.
“My job is always to help the team, giving all the energy I have, so I’m very happy..
Great start to his career with us, hopefully become a new talisman and if the worst happens stays with us next season.
He is a throwback to the players of the 80’s a blood and guts player that was made for playing for West Ham.
He is great, an intelligent player, technically accomplished never has difficulty finding space or creating space for others. Unselfish, team player and with his movement off the ball dragging defenders out of position, he enables others to get in on goal. Pablo does the same and eats up the ground too. A good double act.
Before they arrived you would watch Summerville with the ball but he had 3 players on him, making sure he could not be a threat. Now the opposition is too busy covering for other threats in the team.
Great point, Peter. We had a semblance of a double act with Carroll and Nolan for a little while. We probably need to go back as far as MacAvennie and Cottee for the last time we had a real double threat for the opposition to handle.
Great to think that we no longer have to rely on Jarrod Bowen to do everything.
Long may this team effort continue. COYI
I think it’s been a great pickup of both Taty and Pablo,
They both just keep running and try and be involved.
Great to see this Fornals type Work Ethic⚒️
I’m absolutely having the bloke! Runs his guts out, never gives up, has blatant instincts and ability and also give damn and appreciates the opportunity he’s been afforded and is paying it back in spades! Makes a lot of previous signings all the more frustrating now, this should be the standard. Up the ‘ammers!
