Nobody should be denied the opportunity of holding an opinion even if it is a load of cobblers!
And those who are moaning and groaning about the club’s present move for 11-goal Jermaine Defoe have regularly caused my jaw to drop.
Here’s a guy who at 34 apparently has the fitness level of a bloke four years younger according to those close to him and the Sunderland fans who watch him regularly.
He is achieving a strike rate of over 1 in 2 goals per match at a really struggling club -some achievement. Ok some have been pens but they have to be buried and JD buries them.
I find my mood changing when people start using names such as ‘Judas’ and the like over his activities nearly 13 years ago and being advised by agents who were simply in it for their own reasons perhaps.
We have all done stuff we aren’t very proud of – do we get judged forever? Apparently yes by those who have reached a level of perfection beyond the rest of us. For God’s sake he was 21 years old!
The Hammers have so far offered £6 million – that could go to £8m or £9 million and given that we spent £5 million on a Zaza loan fee and £2 million on Tore, the Defoe fee – if it is accepted – sounds like a great plan to me.
His goals would ensure any PL survival worries are a thing of the past and for that reason alone the money is worth it and his age is immaterial. He looks like a dynamite buy to me alongside Andy Carroll.
I truly hope it happens and the sooner the better.
Leave him to rot at Sunderland and invest the money in someone younger and don’t gIve the ungrateful prat a big final contract . Buy someone who most fans over 30 don’t think is a greedy judas who plays purely for himself never the team. Then you have the formation issue, who makes way from midfield as Slav prefers playing single striker. We aleady have 1 team passenger in Payet we can’t afford another in Defoe otherwise we would shipping goals from an overrun midfield.
Reckon most fans were calling Defoe , Judas when he up and went . But that was way back then and should be completely forgotten . The younger fans probably don’t even remember him playing anyway and only have theirs dads for reference . We all make what others consider mistakes . And at 21yrs of age the prospect of playing for a bigger club and with agents nudging you along it was probably a non brainer for Him .
If Sunderland are to escape relegation they won’t do it without Defoe . So the price of relegation has to be offset as much as possible by asking what they consider to be reasonable . Personally I think 10m is a bit steep but , if he is the striker everyone thinks we need then ok . A lot depends on how Defoe feels about the whole thing . If Sunderland get relegated with Him they will regret not cashing in , and if West Ham can’t get Him scoring it’s a waste of good money . There is no guarantee that Defoe will ignite our season . If we do sign Him then obviously we hope He does . Not sure about the Carroll Defoe combination due to the fact Defoe is capable of going at defenders on his own . Can see Him better paired with Antonio ., with Carroll somewhere in the mix .
Reckon the board are busy looking at various options anyhow . , because knowing our luck He would get injured on his debut return game . And you don’t heal as quickly or as well at 34yrs of age .
It may be the supporters who moved away from Newham and surrounding areas to better there lives that can’t forget what Jermaine done. Imagine if their neighbours called them traitors when they saw the FOR SALE sign outside their house!
Lmao Lama.Come on pal you know they would be jumping round like wack jobs.Anyone who cant forget what happened needs to see a quack to check for their brains in their big toe.
I said the other day that i would go £10 million max.If they say no then walk away & look elsewhere before other options get picked up.
If we do sign him i dont want to see any of the He Is A Judas fans celebrating as he scores the winner against The Spuds otherwise you will be named & shamed as Judases not practising what you preach 😁
moyes is going to hold onto Defoe to the grim death. So Scott hogan would be the man for me. I would go all out for Scott hogan. Two footed, intelligent movement, poacher. Perfect.
I’d take him, but not at a silly price. He might be good for one season after this.
I can’t see us bidding £10m for him (which is too much anyway) and even if we did does anyone believe that would be enough for Sunderland who will be relegated without him. Sunderland had a result when they cleverly bought him, he kept them in the division last season and will probably do the same this year. Our best bet is to wait until the end of the season and see what happens to Sunderland then we could sign him on a 1 year rolling contract if Sunderland go down.
how much will the youngsters learn from him on how to take their chances? for that reason it would be a good move. Defoe has scored at every club he has played for at both ends of the table.
Everytime I see Andy carrol win a ball in the air and nod it on I think where is the player who has the intelligence to feed off of that? Where have all the goal poachers gone gone? Defoe or a player like him. Like Him or cottee is something we’ve needed for years.
*Defoe even!! 😂😂⚒
Defoe and Carroll up front could be lethal. With Payet, lanzini and Antonio supplying the bullets we could still have a very strong second half of the season with a top 8 finish.
Put in simple terms as above it’ll. Be money well spent…. I also believe working off AC, Deforestation will score for fun.⚒⚒
Absolute no brainer … £10m if thats what it takes . Ignore the morons that have so little mental capacity that hatred and pathetic name calling come before what the club desperately needs …. COYI
