Delap holds talks | And more talks..

West Ham need a new number nine. Liam Delap needs a new club. Surely a match made in – Hornchurch? Even though there seems positive news on the horizon for the Hammers stricken striker Michail Antonio, who is now ‘kicking balls’ again, the Hammers urgently need a new strike force after operating for large parts of the season with no recognised striker. The results spoke for themselves.

Liam Delap is on West Ham’s shopping list – as he appears to be for just about ever Premier League club this summer. The young former Manchester City frontman is reported on several club fan sites to be ‘speaking’ to various PL teams after relegated Ipswich Town gave him permission. He does have a relegation clause in any case. so his agent will be rubbing his hands whilst fighting off a whole host of suitors.

A quick look across the web this morning reported him as ‘talking’ to Chelsea, Manchester United, David Moyes’ Everton, Newcastle United – all from ITK Fabrizio Romano’s reported comments that “There is genuine interest from two very important clubs, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Which is pretty clear that West Ham can give up now and focus on more attainable targets. ‘Chelsea and Champions League’ has a certain pull that the Irons cannot hope to match,

Plenty of fish in the striker sea. Not many match Delap in terms of homegrown, age, potential. providing Potter can find an Antonio replacement the right side of thirty, it’ll be a start.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

Depends on whether Delap wants to follow in the footsteps of Bowen or Abrahams. I know the path I would prefer.

Tim would’ve had this sown up months ago. SULLIVAN OUT

  • Timbo says:

We can offer him first team football playing along side a fellow England international and pay him the sort of wages we were happy to waste on another now departed striker. Time for us to show some ambition and convince him how central he is to our plans.

We will have loads of these posts while the season ticket sales are down.

  • AM says:

He is at Ipswich so maybe he wont want to live up north also has far more chance of every game with the hammers than at Chelsea
Whether we can offer him what he want’s is another matter
Most of the lads leaving other teams want Champions league teams to play for with Potter at the helm it’s NEVER going to happen at WHU

Articles about Delap have been ongoing for sometime and although not disclosed his new destination already decided.
If it was Man Utd last result may have had an impact.
Several cut backs and players (Garnarco) expressing dismay with eyes for the exit doesn’t create a good working relationship.
Will existing manager still be around next season?
Chelsea, yes Championship football, with elite squad and constant rotation will Delap get regular starting position?
Pep has already made reference to this with Man City leaving a number of good players on bench and wants smaller squad.
Moyes would love to put egg on Potters face by signing Delap.
Newcastle would he displace Isaak or play second fiddle.
Could be Spurs will come into reckoning with their new wealth and Solanke/Richlison going opposite way.

Why anyone would want to join Manure or Chelsea is beyond me. Apart for money. Surely these players must have seen what happens when you join these so called big clubs but there agents only have eyes on the pound notes.

    • Jas B says:

You’d argue that Manure can’t offer that money with recent reportst that 200 staff being sacked, rates dropping found in their canteen area, food kept without cover / lids etc. Sad as it is, unless the Glazers unload that club, they are on a downward spiral… Chelsea own everyone so he’d just be another number, but honest is a grade about Michael Jackson (lol) so for that reason alone, might consider them… We’re a good bet, fantastic run in Europe, a team (other than this season) on the up and investing into players.. We need consistency and to dump Mavoropanos !

Agree with both comments, let’s hope young decent players will think they will get more game time with the likes of us and I understand that they will wañt to move to bigger clubs with possible bigger prizes. Problem is Delap would probably prefer manu with no Europe to us plus have we got a manager etc who will allow youngsters a chance to showcase their talents. In response to a previous comment, I thought I read man City had a 20mil buy back on Delap but I have been known misread articles.

  • Kenny Irons says:

Why would any half decent player want to come to us other than for the “stepping stone” scenario. How can a club that gets 60k + gates be regarded as a club smaller than Bournemouth !! Tell you how, a Board who don’t give a toss, have total disrespect for the fans and have no ambition.
Get Sullivan, Brady and the rest of these buffoons out of our club !!

  • Chunk says:

Me personally I would be doing everything I can to get Delap. Hope he doesn’t go Man U because of his City links. Don’t see him be a regular at Chelsea. Doesn’t get in over Isak at Newcastle so leaves us and Everton. Everton having a couple of strikers means more competition so really hope he does choose us. Know we have Fullkrug as competiton but thats it really. Whether he stays or goes wouldnt surpise me either way and Antonio will only be a bit part player, hopefully. His choice at the end of the day but just hope he has his head screwed on and sees the points I have made.
