West Ham United are on the verge of completing the signings of Guido Rodriguez and Niclas Fullkrug. According to Sky Sports News. and C and H’s very own Sean Whetstone,  it is understood that there are no issues with the deals at present, but the medicals were delayed. The Irons hope to unveil the German striker and Argentine midfielder as their latest additions to Julen Lopetegui’s squad on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Sean Whetstone took to ‘X’ this afternoon to confirm the delays: “Despite conflicting reports, Part one medicals for Niclas Füllkrug and Guido Rodriguez are today after both players flew in yesterday afternoon and evening. Part two medicals are scheduled for tomorrow (Monday). Contracts should be signed late Monday if all goes well with announcements either last Monday or Tuesday morning after media work.“

The signing of Rodriguez and Fullkrug will be a major boost for West Ham, who have been looking to strengthen their squad this summer. The Argentine midfielder and the German striker are both experienced players, and their arrival will provide competition for places and improve the overall quality of the squad.

West Ham have already made a number of signings this summer, including Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme along with the just-unveiled Crysencio Summerville: The addition of Rodriguez and Fullkrug will further strengthen their squad. The Irons could be well-placed to challenge for a top-six finish in the Premier League this season.

Top 6 ? It won’t happen, unless we can transform our weak defence. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can sign at least 3 capable defenders.

Tim and Julen know what they’re doing…..

it’s going to take time to adjust from 4 years of moyesball

the new recruits might even have an advantage as they wont have 4 years of moyseball muscle memory to contend with

patience, this is a year of transition, with the difficult start don’t expect it to go smoothly in the first month but we’ll hit our stride

and the likes of guido and fullkrug aren’t competition, they are bang on starters imho

      top top quality

  • John Ayris says:

Happy days. We’re suddenly looking appreciably stronger.

    • Charlie Farley says:

Agreed. Though patience will need to be applied from too many of our most negative fans. From their perspective….if we don’t hit the ground running, it’ll be LOPETEGUI OUT by November!!

Adapting to a new system as well as integrating new players will take time.
A top six finish is very optimistic.
In the meantime we must show Villa and Man Ure that we haven’t got “Mugs” on our foreheads and let the keep their unwanted cast offs

  • John Conway says:

I feel good times ahead, it will take a little time to adjust to a new system and of course new players but I do feel atop 6 is possible. But some players need to be gone, the 2 Czechs definitely and Zouma

    • Charlie Farley says:

……….only Zouma and Ings for now.

    • Steve says:

Coufal is a fighter, I think he still has a part to play. I will feel very comfortable with him at RB for cup matches and as a fill in in the league. Much as I’m grateful for Soucek, I think he should be sold. Will never forget his goal against Sevilla.

  • Frank Kusch says:

We have two weeks to recruit the required defenders and hopefully offload surplus to requirements. Unless we can get the team bus registered and stencil a number on the side.

  • Hammerpete6 says:

I am totally happy about the continuous progress of Tim and Julen. Can’t wait for the new way of playing. I was one who had enough of Moyes style but I don’t get the pessimism of the fans – front foot forward Irons!

  • kcockayne says:

Not pessimism – just reality – we really must address our defensive problems; or else, we are going nowhere. From what I have read, here & elsewhere, our new management seem to have the nous & capability to transform things; but the defence must now be the priority for them.

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Agree the defence needs a lot of upgrading Mavropanos isn’t good enough, Zouma has the ability but not the fitness, Aguerd needs a change of club, he looks devoid of confidence, right back and left back are good but there is a lot of room for better quality, Kilman is not proven yet.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Let’s hope they come about, Füllkrug gives us an option we haven’t had since Andy Carroll and hopefully we can get a pacy forward also, Rodriguez should give us more of a shield in front of the porous defence am guessing that Lopetegui has figured we need a double pivot to stop shipping goals, can’t help wondering how these players close to 30 will cope with pressing for 90 minutes.
