Devastating West Ham injury news

|

LanziniThe Daily Telegraph claims that Andy Carroll could be facing a three-month layoff after surgery which could mean West Ham won’t see him for the remainder of the season while Manuel Lanzini could be out for at least four weeks meaning he might not return to action until March.

The Telegraph report claims: “News on Sunday that Carroll will be out for three months after scans confirmed a hairline fracture of his foot, while Lanzini could be out for up to a month after sustaining a hamstring injury against Bournemouth.”

The Hammers face crucial games against Palace, Watford and Liverpool in the next few weeks and must now do so without their main creative player in Lanzini who has partnered the inform Marko Arnautovic games in recent games.

The news will put more pressure on the board to find a midfield player in the January transfer window.

Agree Carroll not a surprise, test Arsenal’s mettle with Wilshere, buy another CF a proper one that is young, hungry and aggressive to fill in for Carroll and that also has pace. We also need a left sided midfielder, from a defensive side of things Arthur is doing a great job for us but he isn’t really creating many clear cut chances and he also needs competition for that place. Hopefully Moyes and Pearce have seen what they need to at the weekend and some clear targets have been identified, Jaoa Mario looks highly unlikely because he isn’t interested if the papers are to be believed.

AC not a suprsie wish we would of sold for £5m right away. Didn’t get it at WBA I don’t think he gets injured when isn’t training or playing.
But anyway if can move on in summer we should bc will only have year left & is a high priced liability that said also think should offload Hart if since so worried about wages & bring in a good loan GK.

But like others above mostly worried about Lanzini saying could be 3-4 weeks. And start of season it was when Lanzini gets back issue is without him we have no creativity besides Arnie who could prob play #10 well but who do we play as CF Chic ianr lone CF & Ayew isn’t a CF.

We have needed to address creativity for a year in a half. Had all summer & most managers will tell u best to have 2 players for each position & we don’t have another creative AM we didnin Sameulsen but sent him on loan to Burton who are bottom of Championship & then we wonder why loans don’t do well… Ffs tho he did create a chance or 2 would fair much better a mid table team were he can focus on attack & creating bc he has the ball skill & attributes to be a very good creative player & can play LW #10 or RW.

Hoefully will get in some creativity tho Mario looks unlikely but at least Moyes went to watch Ruiz & Gomes & Pearce Dendockner but Nome of those are really #10s. Love us to take a chance on someone like Felix Klaus Max Arnold Hakim Ziyech Elynoussoui or James Maddison be brilliant

This news should surely trigger the need to get someone in like Jaio Mario to cover the creative midfield spot? Or is Antonio close enough to return to perhaps partner Marko? Haksabanovic or Cullen in the middle to provide the killer passes? I’m confident that Moyes and his team have thought about all the variables and in a recent interview, Moyes mentioned about getting someone in who he himself was 100% sure about rather than take a lucky dip.
It should fill supporters with confidence that the club are going about business in the correct way for a change. Lets just hope the owners put their hands in their pockets, get the deals done in a timely fashion and bring the players in when Moyes identifies his targets.

Carroll – who cares, total apathy.
Lanzini – speculation, scan due today. He didn’t pull up during a sprint, he simply went down after feeling a tight hammy. hopefully means he minimised any potential issues and will be back after treatment and a rest.

  • thebear says:

hardly devastating when it’s entirely predictable and he’s not been starting when fit anyway

  • wjo1974 says:

Is Lanzini not scheduled for a scan TODAY?
If it’s a hamstring it will be a while but them saying it’s a month is a little premature and guess work.
