DG: “Carroll’s no playboy – he’s a model pro”

CarrollgoldDavid Gold has sent his heartfelt sympathies to Andy Carroll as the player starts out on another injury comeback trail.

And the co chairman told ClaretandHugh “The media love to to saddle him with a playboy image but I’ve seen him battle back from serious injuries and he’s a totally dedicated model professional.

“I have nothing but admiration for him. His public image doesn’t fit the man at all. He’s a total pro and he’ll come back from the latest setback.

“I’m aware that many want to see Diafra and Enner together up top and there is now an obvious opportunity for that to happen but Andy still has a huge amount to offer when fit as we have seen.

“He was desperately unlucky to pick up an entirely new injury. Both the long term heel and ankle problems are sorted and we know how to maintain them.

“Given his courageous approach to these things he’ll be back. In the meantime he has my heartfelt sympathies”

  1. DG needs to have a word in BFS’s ear that it’s what everyone wants to see before he picks Cole and Nolan up front.

  2. Sounds like DG prefers the Sakho & Valencia formation as well, otherwise why mention it ?

completely agree AC has something to offer, but not a starting place in every game regardless.
