DG opens up on Ravel disappointment

Gold2David Gold has admitted his near despair at not being able to make a breakthrough into Ravel Morrison’s life and show him the “wonderful Hammers opportunity” he’s allowed to pass him by.

The co chairman has regularly attempted to help Morrison over the past 18 months as his Hammers career has tottered from crisis to loan spells and back again.

And he told ClaretandHugh in an exclusive interview: “I can’t tell you how disappointed I am that the young man has allowed it all to slip by him at Upton Park.”

Ravel-Morrison-v-BarkleyWith Lazio reportedly close to agreeing a deal with the 21 year old Gold said: “Wherever he goes I wish him well and genuinely hope he finds himself and shows the world what a talent he is.

“I have constantly encouraged him, gone out of my way to tell him how well he’s done after a good game, have had regular chats with him and put an arm around his shoulder when he hasn’t been picked.

“He takes being dropped harder than anyone I’ve known – he appears to take it personally. But dealing with all that is part of the game. After all he’s not Ronaldo but I really do wish him well wherever he goes.”

  1. come on D-G 1 LAST CHANCE THIS KID IS SPECIAL

    one last chance

  2. With DG giving him so many chances and he still didn’t take it, we have to accept that his future lies elsewhere.
I am also very disappointed at how things turn out for him, his technique is what we craved for.

All we can do is wish him all the best and don’t waste his talent.

    Ching

  3. So what did he actually do wrong, as far as the club go

  4. If he takes non-selection as hard as anyone DG has seen, then I can only assume he needs to grow up a little bit? Such a waste, rumour has it he didn’t like the basic, hard working parts of the game. He’s done plenty wrong in his time with us, refusing to play, refusing to get a “playable” going injury fixed and now he’s in dispute with the club over his December wages due to ‘fines”.

  5. So he’s done 2 things wrong, better string him up then….

  6. he has not murdered any one has he

  7. If DG can take the time to look out for him then clearly the issue,as always,is Allardyce and his reknown social skills. The club is losing a major asset, even diamonds start rough cut, just because of Allardyce biligerence. He costs this club in so many ways.shame for a misguided youth who could and should have got treated better but what do you expect for suck a lazy greedy manager, when he’s not making anything out of it for himself.well DG ,now please fire Sam too.

    • Mate, we got the picture a long time ago. In your strange mind Allardyce is responsible for all and everything bad related in any way to West Ham. Even if he did the treble for us and personally bought you a season ticket I’m sure you would still be unhappy

If you had one scintilla of real intelligence you would not be blaming him for Morrison’s predicament. If you actually followed what has been going on you wouldn’t be spouting your madness. You are entitled to your opinions but you can’t change the facts. If this kid was not a liability with the all the talent he has there would be clubs clambering over him. There are not. You do not need to question this any more.

That said I wish him well. I never want to see anyone do anything but turn their life around and become a better person. If he can achieve that in Lazio good luck to him.

  8. I assume the same was true of ferguson red knapp and slade was it? You are now ver close to eviction from this group on the basis of boring everybody to death

  9. Great Site Hugh by the way the way i look at it as in any job you have chances BUT only so many before you get that final meeting or in some cases removed from that job & this is what i think this looks like. individuals may very well like you personally but if your job is effecting others to do there jobs then someone has to go.

  10. Will someone please enlighten me as to how many of our youth including Morrison has the manager brought through? All bought players and the crew that endured the Championship as I see it make up the current team at WHUFC.
