Message from David Gold
I would like to take this opportunity of wishing every follower of the ClaretandHugh website a very Merry Christmas.
I have been a follower of Hugh’s website since it launched two years ago this month when he told me he wanted to produce the equivalent to a daily newspaper for Hammers fans.
I’ve been a regular reader ever since having known him for many years and I believe he has built a great team around him who have succeeded admirably in their objective.
It’s become a first stop site for many of you and like David Sullivan I believe that outside of the official site it’s the best one out there.
So I send my best wishes to all of you and your families. My wish for you all is peace, passion and points at this special time. COYI

If the Daves read this, then I hope they don’t thnk that the comments represent everyone. Personally, i have found the vilification of Big Sam and others pretty shameful. Big Sam did the job he was asked to do. He did not let us down. When did he ever say he was going to do things differently from how he has managed before? Indeed, not to have done so would have made it pointless hiring him in the 1st place!
So many people I know are grateful to Big Sam, as am I.
Not enjoying the ‘have a go’ fest at Jenkinson and Carroll either…although from what i can tell, at least people give Carroll credit for being a hard worker…which he is!
I didn’t think Blic would be able to ‘cut it’ but am delighted to have been proved wrong; that is the REAL test: how he manages when things go wrong, and so far, he has come up trumps.
The 2 Davids deserve every plaudit for completely turning round the club’s fortunes. Fortune ISN’T always hiding any more! COYI
Thanks Mike.
Nice words too and gratefully received.
I am not slow to criticise when required but I also believe in supporting the Daves as friends who have been extremely supportive in a variety of ways.
They are also big enough to take it on the chin when I have a “hod on a minute moment.”
Very good guys.
My very best to you and yours at this special time my friend.
Nice words Hugh – both the Dave’s are fulsome in their praise – it can’t get much better!
What I would say is that C&H is far better than the Official Site, which by definition has to follow the Party line and you wouldn’t expect any criticism, but C&H is able to cover the complete gamut from fawning praise to severe criticism – more power to your elbow!
Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year to all fellow Hammers!
