DG: “We will appeal Kouyate’s red card”

|

Cheikhou+Kouyate+West+Ham+United+v+Sampdoria+nhE6a1UeJOQlDavid Gold has tonight confirmed the club plan to appeal Chiek Kouyate’s red card.

The all-action Irons midfielder was sent off after the referee adjudged that he was guilty of a trip which denied Blackburn the opportunity of  goal scoring opportunity.

But to put it mildly it was a decision which was highly dubious at best as TV replays cleared showed the ball was out of Adam Henley’s control at the time!

Indeed the TV pundits seemed convinced the player’s chance of scoring had gone and that Darren Randolph would have had little problem in coming out of his goal and saving.

Gold has made it clear the club will definitely be involved in an appeal tweeting over the last few minutes when asked by a follower: “Yes we will appeal Kouyate’s red card which we believe was a mistake by the referee I think we have a good chance. dg”

To be honest there was minimal contact with the player by Kouyate, they run across each other’s path and it looked more like Henley clipped his own heels. A bit hard to with only a couple of showings.

Ludicrous decision. Great example of why we need video in the game. Much to our credit, it had little effect on the outcome but it could have. If we had lost or drawn and then appealed it wouldn`t change the result regardless of wether the appeal was upheld. The game is too important to be decided by the whim of an ageing official who[normally] has no experience of playing the game at a professional level and is being asked to do an impossible job in light of todays fast pace and unbelieveable fitness levels.

I have said it several times, and will say it again.
English refs are the cancer of English football. Moss, Atkinson, Swarbrick, or whatever his name is. All bad in their own way, but mostly problematic because they make the same kind of errors over and over again. Lack of uniformity of criteria, they pull a yellow for petty stuff, then don’t for serious offences. But more than anything, they have that irresistible need to be a part of a game, to show and remind everyone they are there for a reason, when it is known that the best refs are the ones that go unnoticed.

The beginning of this season was a complete disaster, with gross mistakes made here and there. Then things seemed to calm down, but I again see those bad calls. Not only in games with West Ham.

New generation of refs needed, but I agree that with the accelerated pace of the game, video replays cannot be ignored much longer.

There was even a case for diving,he kicked his own heel and I could see daylight between Kouyate when contact was supposed to have been made,
There was no chance of a goal unless Randolf was going to score a own goal,
Every week we are seeing very poor refs decisions,
There should be a call for professional refs who are younger have better understanding of the rules, with money poring into the premier a school for them should be started,
    Appeal a no brainer
