Diame: “Maybe he thinks he’s better than he is”

mohamed-diame-west-ham-united_3010044Mo Diame’s outburst against the owners and his team-mates has gone down like the proverbial lead balloon in all areas of the club.
And it is now being seen as another ill-considered attempt to get away from the Boleyn after regular public announcements about his own hopes for his future.
Diame – possibly via his advisers – has been linked with Arsenal, Spurs, Everton and latterly Liverpool.
And the player himself has made it clear that he wants to play for a top four club which one senior figure at the club described to ClaretandHugh today as “optimism rather than reality.”
The midfielder last week chose to criticise the owners and manager for not bringing in enough quality signings last summer and claimed that some of the players didn’t put in 100 per cent, perhaps as a result!
But an Upton Park source told us: “Nobody really gets this because as has been said on various occasions, there hasn’t been a single inquiry, never mind offer for him.
“There’s a £3.5 million release clause in his contract but even at that price nobody has even asked about him.
“We’ve heard an awful lot from Mo about what he wants to do and where he wants to play but his problem is nobody seems that interested.
“Every player wants to join a top four club but in Mo’s case it’s a hope based on optimism rather than the reality of the situation.
“They sound like words from a player who thinks he is better than is actually the case.
“Quite why he would want to criticise his team mates  in the terms he did is very odd but if he thinks it may endear him to anybody here or anywhere else I reckon he’s badly mistaken.”
