Barton update: Dicks stays neutral on Joey switch

DicksJulian Dicks is refusing to take sides in the big Joey Barton debate.

It seems that the midfielder with a bad boy reputation may well be on his way to the club over the next 48 hours, although word is the odds are 50-50 on a deal being agreed between the club and the player.

Dicks – always ready to reply on Twitter to fans worries – has taken a neutral stance on an issue that is dividing opinion among the Hammers faithful.

A follower asked him: “What do you make of some West Ham fans reaction to the possibility of us signing Joey Barton?”

Dicks – like many before him – could justifiably have ignored the question, but instead he declared: “Everyone is entitled to an opinion.”

  1. That sounds to me more like a no than a yes
All this does as usual is cloud the issue of transfers for the 2 Daves again,
    And another week goes begging,
I can see it now on the day after the window closes
We had 8 deals set up but for one reason or another they all fell through but with AC returning and we are still trying to sign a couple of Freebies,
Just be honest and tell us the truth we won’t be affended we can take it

  2. The way I read it, he is saying is that the fans are welcome to their opinion, it won’t affect any decision made by Slaven and the club, they will judge for themselves what is in the team/club’s best interest.

  3. Thanks mate that was what I read to,
But the idea is you give your opinion and Dicks has never had a problem before giving his opinion, just reading between the lines or guessing the tea leaves,
    Never had a narrator before,

  4. I just can’t believe that after all the names we’ve been linked with, we are thinking of signing Joey Barton. He’ll be Trouble (note the capital T)

  5. A mate in the UK has just told me we’ve upped our bid for Hernandez. Anyone?

  6. Nothing Official yet but that’s what the media is say new bid of £11.5 million if the rumours are true but it will depend on Pedro leaving Barcelona and they are saying it could happen at the end of the window
But the Spuds are after him to,

  7. Please, Please, Please to all those who are in control, dont let this go further.
Barton brings nothing to West Ham apart from a very negative aura.
We on to a good thing so far. Dont bring division in the club and eventually amongst the plays.
Whoever hair brained idea this , think again.
There are better players out there.
