West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui needs to adjust his tactical approach to get the best out of Niclas Fullkrug. The German striker has the potential to be a valuable asset for the team, but he requires the right support to succeed.
The 31-year-old is somewhat of a throwback to the centre forwards of yesteryear with his uncompromising playing style, but he could adapt to the Premier League football.
He was one of new arrivals at the London Stadium in the summer transfer window, and he has made a slower start than most of them having yet to start a league game for us.
Despite that he showed what he was capable of during their 5-0 win over Hungary on Saturday night. He played with two narrow wingers – Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz. Then with David Raum and Joshua Kimmich providing the width, he was never isolated on his own.
Perhaps Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus could operate much more centrally and closer to Fullkrug, and the width in the team could be provided by Emerson Palmieri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka?
In the current setup, Fullkrug will continue to struggle as an isolated striker , perhaps Lopetegui should take a leaf out of the German managers book?
What form of injury has FULLKRUG now supposed to have sustained?

Agree, Hopefully Lopetegui’s days are numbered Pellegrini Mk 2
why would you WANT him to fail?
