Diop has big job with danger man on way back

Issa Diop has a major job on his hands this weekend -keeping Burnley’s Chris Wood quiet.

The big striker has tormented the Hammers in recent seasons and having been out injured is now of course set to return against us on Saturday afternoon.

Clarets manager Sean Dyche has confirmed there is “every chance” he could be involved on Saturday and that is a worry although giant defender Diop may present him with some problems he hasn’t encountered against the Hammers in recent years..

Wood scored in each of the league matches against the Hammers last season, while in the 2017/18 campaign he managed three goals in two appearances against them.
Diop could easily be assigned to the job of looking after the striker although given the three goals conceded last weekend it will be interesting to see who partners him – Ogbonna or Balbuena, who is the player in possession at the moment.
Wood is a major threat who put paid to our chances last season with a fine striker’s performance but Seb Haller is due goals this weekend!
Manager Dyche commenting on the Irons ahead of the game at his presser probabaly isn’t sure which West Ham team is going to turn up admitting: “They had a flying start, I can only imagine their manager is scratching his head sometimes because they have certainly got talent.”
