Diop ready to admit his faults

Issa Diop doesn’t believe he is the man who can solve the Irons well know striking problems!

He demonstrated that during a monumental performance for the Irons on his recall against Spurs in the weekend victory.

He took a brief moment off from his defensive duties to mount a one man raid on the Tottenham goal only to fail at the crucial point in proceedings.

Having started his solely run in the halfway line, it all petered out as he shot weakly for stopper Hugo Lloris to make a comfortable save.

A goal would have crowned a fantastic performance by the 22 year old but it wasn’t to be so he instead had to make do with tributes such as “awesome, immense” and nearly perfect.

He was more than happy with that mind you and a half smile was noticeable as he failed to complete the perfect afternoon in front of the opposition goal.

And afterwards he told the official site: “We had to work hard. Tottenham have some really big players so it was difficult, and at the end, it was particularly tricky, but we’re happy to keep the clean sheet.

He added that he was trying to mimic Antonio’s goalscoring exploits from earlier in the game but was satisfied with the clean-sheet.

He said: “I don’t know where it came from! I tried to copy Michail, but I just wasn’t fortunate to score. I can’t finish like that it seems, but I’m just happy we won and kept Tottenham out.”
