Disgraceful Petulant Paqueta Knew Precisely What He Was Doing

Lucas Paquetá was nothing short of a disgrace today as West Ham fell 2-0 to Liverpool. On a day when the bare minimum should have been playing for the badge and for team-mates, the Brazilian let everyone down. After receiving a yellow card for aggressively protesting yet another dubious decision from Darren England, Paquetá decided to talk himself into a red card.

With West Ham hovering just above the relegation zone and fighting to remain in the Premier League, the 28-year-old was repeatedly warned by both referee and players that he was heading for an early bath. Nobody will convince me he didn’t know exactly what he was doing — and yet he carried on regardless. After all the support he’s had from Nuno Espírito Santo and the club over the past two years, watching him opt for the easy way out was genuinely disgraceful.

Paquetá Leaves West Ham in the Lurch

Paquetá has only just returned to the team after a suspension against Bournemouth, and now he’ll be missing again. Captain Jarrod Bowen was far too passive as the inevitable unfolded and should have either dragged Paquetá away from the referee or instructed his team-mates to do it for him.

Ultimately, this is Paquetá’s fault — but everyone else will suffer. And if I’m honest, the cynic in me is starting to wonder whether this latest charade will accelerate his exit, with a January transfer suddenly looking very possible.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Instead of the talk being about Bonzo , that selfish moron paquetas made it all about him, I’ll be glad when he’s gone , he will never be a legend like Bonzo , he never wanted to be here in the first place, the man’s a menace?

  • Cubbie says:

He is a disgrace. His hype is greater than his contribution to the team . No question that any bid received in Jan should be accepted. Don’t think Jarrod covered himself in glory either. He could and should have intervened straight away but he just stood there and did nothing. Pacman let his team mates , his club and his supporters down again.

  • Ian Smith says:

Cash him in. Fernandez can take his place with ease!

  • Tezzard says:

Been said many times, bowen is not captain material.

This needs sorting as much as anything else, or we are going down

  • SteveHoad says:

I agree with most of the comments above. Selfish and shameful behaviour from Paqueta. Especially hurtful on a day when we were thinking of Billy Bonds – a true hammer. The game itself? We had the foundations from our young midfield but needed more leadership, and spark, from Pac and Bowen, which didn’t appear. Guilherme impressed in his cameo; he looked up for the challenge ahead. Without Pac, suspension, heavy fine and benched (hopefully), Fernandes will become the midfield leader. A lot of pressure on him, but if the senior players get behind him as much as the fans do then we’ll be in a better place. Next week’s training schedule ahead of Manure and the Seaguls? Just watch films of Bonds, Brooking and Bobby …

What a perfect way to honour the passing of a club legend , the thoughtless a@@@hole

  • John Ayris says:

It was as if deranged, what more can be said.

  • Phil Baker says:

It was plainly obvious that Paqueta deliberately got himself sent off . He should be fined a months salary for that and then dump him in January . Two and a half years of mediocrity from Paqueta and now this .

    • David says:

Absolutely right – we have stood by this man and what has he given West Ham in return? He has been a passenger for too long. Get rid in January!

  • Alan says:

Paqueta should have known better, agreed, but he has been put through hell these past two seasons, and now having been found innocent he’s expected to get straight back on the horse and carry on as if nothing happened. The FA have handled this disgracefully.

  • Simon says:

Today, we saw exactly what a player looks like who (a) Is all about himself (b) Does not play for the team (c) Does not respect the badge and this club – Even showing no sign of remorse leaving the field. No disgrace felt.
How do you face your family tonight, and explain to your kids what your daddy did? Wow !
And to top it Nuno says Paqueta is irreplaceable? Can someone please tell me what positive thing he did on the pitch today. A day West Ham celebrated the life of a true West Ham legend.
No, my take is West Ham is much better with Paqueta + may I add Kudus too. These players think the world turns around them and should be shown the door soon as too late. Come on West Ham. Your fans need better !!!!

  • Ted Fenton says:

I agree Gonzo, Paqueta clearly wants out which is a shame. He is the one top class player we have and without him relegation will be very likely. Also agree that Bowen and others should have done more to pull him away. As should the back room staff when he went off the pitch and was still ranting at the 4th official

  • Morty says:

Frankly I don’t think we’ll miss him if he goes. Time to move on Gonzo

  • Mick bering says:

Paqueta putting himself first No thought for the team Bowen just as bad should have been dragging him away from the ref Imn afraid hes not captain material The whole team had no fight or desire to win this match against a very poor Liverpool side out of form No point pointing the finger at the manager this downward trend has been going on for 2 years now This all goes back to Sullivan and the board total neglect and incompetence over a period of time and we the fans have to suffer week in week out watching this total decline of our once great club We have no ground to call our own No pride No passion and no identity SAD SAD DAYS COYI

  • Hammer says:

Paqueta wants to leave that was so obvious the way he played and reacted. George Earthy will be a better player then him without out all the theatricals so good job it could be January which is what he is planning by todays action. Yes Bowen should have been stronger both then and also in his performance

  • Mick says:

Personal I can’t wait to the Peacock go
The negatives out weights the positives on the pitch
I’m fed up with watching him fall over every time he loses the ball

  • Chris says:

It was stark, today of all days, between heroes of the past and some of those masquerading as heroes today. Night and day

  • Gaz says:

Paqueta is a disgrace. Bowen a failure as captain. The former can be controlled, the captaincy must be moved. Any teammate worth their salt would have stepped in and removed Paqueta, forcibly if necessary. Alison tried harder than Bowen.

  • Essexiron67 says:

He,s ok some of the time but not able to do enough for me in most games. Today he showed what he is school boy petulance and I’ve always thought he thinks hes better than he is . Darren England is a poor referee I’ve never been convinced by him in any of our games hes ref,d Magassa went for the ball and got the ball , ref said yellow card. We are very poor and I’m still not convinced we will stay up playing like this , I think forest have better players and that’s why nuno did well with them . Poor team with these tactics

    • Lance Marsh says:

I agree Essex, the refereeing was lamentable. When Diouf made that great run down the flank in the first half only to be manhandled off the ball in our attacking third I expected a yellow to be shown. No. Not even a free kick. It set the standard for the game I’m afraid. But none of that excuses Paqeta’s behaviour. He ought to be a leader in this team, not a petulant extravagance.
